Re: Contura stoves any good?
We had a Contura 580 (free-standing, not built in) in a previous house. FWIW no problems with it.

Re: Adding to existing system
My misunderstanding. So you won't be using ESS which is for grid-connected systems. Can you do something with Assistants or failing that NodeRed? Sorry sharpener, but I don't know those terms. Really just looking for the simplest way to make use of additional panels without affecting anything else.

Re: Adding to existing system
Thanks @nowty - helpful as ever!
Correct about the off grid FIT. We were fortunate enough to get the first (highest) rate, which has been enough to cover the costs of diesel in our backup generator.

Adding to existing system
Currently have an off grid system with 3.5kW PV, feeding via Sunnyboy into a Victron inverter/charger to a Pylontech battery bank. This qualified for the original FIT payments, so I don't want to mess with this. I now have an additional 2.1kW of new panels available. To make use of these, is it as r...

Re: Cheap Low head Hydro
@nowty Regret I don't have any way of measuring/recording data from the turbine. All I can say is with a steady 20-30mph wind it does slow down the rate of discharge of the batteries significantly. The few occasions we have had very windy nights (40mph +), it will keep them fully charged. Sorry I ca...

Re: Wind turbine that works.
FWIW we have a MiniWind 2200 that has been in use for the past 12 years. Had to have it re-wound (by an alternator repair company) about 3 years ago, and I also broke one of the blades. Fortunately, was able to source a replacement from someone on here. Aside from that, it's been very reliable and d...

Re: Pylontech Batteries
You were not balanced as you know, please redo your cables too. 1 in 6 out. Keep balancing. Batteries are one of the few representations of Not Just plug & play although appearing to be. All the best, cheers! Thanks Joeboy. Yes, I intend to re-balance again at some point. Have already re-config...

Re: Pylontech Batteries
Thanks everyone. Appreciate all the input. Yes I'm running 24v system. Had to import these from Italy - none in UK. Tinbums explanation of the 28.4v is what I believed it to be. Re. the cable connections - I originally had them connected to top and bottom units of the stack, but it seemed it was the...
