Re: A project crying out to be done!

My ASHP (East side of Scotland) uses 2500 kWh/annum (average over last three years) in a 250 Sq.m passive-renovated house, if that helps you. And I dont expect the hybrid car will use a lot either. ASHP heat pumps operate most efficiently circulating at low temperatures (circa 35°C). I dont know abo...

Re: Part ownership of a Ripple Wind Turbine, fancy it?

Thanks Joeboy, I went for Fronius Gen 24 Plus 10kW 3 Phase with BYD HVM 5 x 2.76 HVM batteries with box, and 24 x 440W panels. Its a while since I joined this forum to learn how to extend a PV system without disturbing FIT, and how to get past DNO approval. Original PV is 10 years old with 28 panels...

Re: Part ownership of a Ripple Wind Turbine, fancy it?

Again Joeboy! Well, after our conversation I went for more PV instead of Ripple - good job too! I was never going to put more into 'Ripple' (have to find a new word) but I still believe fractioned renewable energy assets are the way forward for bringing the existing housing stock (non-passiv-renovat...

Re: Ripple energy "strike off"

I am not a member of WB, but I think this part might be more significant:
should have been held in a ring-fenced client account. We have not yet been able to confirm whether this is the case
You can't relax until the money is safe.

Re: Ripple energy "strike off"

This posted yesterday regarding DW I’m one of the DW Board members and can confirm that there is a lot of work going on behind the scenes to ensure the solar farm is completed in line with schedule. As at the time of writing the demise of Ripple hasn’t really added to any project delays - work has c...

Re: Ripple energy "strike off"

Waiting to hear which companies are interested to buy Ripple out of administration. I think Ripple had the right concept, just Sarah and crew were a bit out of their depth and the concept needs scaling up. I hope the coops can be kept under one management and move forward together with a better reso...

Re: Airtightness test booked - how to get the best from it?

We got to 1 air change/hour and left it at that. Passiv haus standard of 0.6 is not expected for refurbs/retrofits. For MVHR consider small in-the-wall room units - Fresh-r, DUCO, Renson make these in Netherlands. Well-suited to refrbishment projects - require no ducting - come with humidity/Co2 sen...

Re: Airtightness test booked - how to get the best from it?

Air tightness is hard to achieve, especially with a revovation project (passive haus accept a lower standard for refurbs). Mine is a 1950s bungalow with brick cavity walls. For air tightness we replastered one coat externally, before 200mm insulation and acrylic render and connected the extenal wall...

Re: Passive stack chimney ventilation

Consider small in-the-wall room units - Fresh-r, DUCO, Renson make these in Netherlands. Well-suited to refrbishment projects - require no ducting - come with humidity/Co2 sensors. Try to attend a trade exhibition in Netherlands (they lead with small MVHR) eg. VSK Utrecht. Consider accessibility for...

Re: underfloor heating under floorboards - any ideas on the numbers?

Sounds like a project! Make the plan how to get the whole building to net zero (a passiv haus envelope) before you start any work. Consult with others on the draft plabn or hire a consultant before finalising the plan. Implement in one or more stages - dont be tempted to start with half-measures. En...
