Re: Fully electric container ship
can they get re-gen when trying to slow down such a large vessel as that? Not sure how that would work! Can't imagine it would be particularly significant but presumably removng power to the prop then the continuing movement of the vessel through water would surely induce reverse energy through it,...

Re: Fully electric container ship
Quite impressive all the same. From the figures given and if my sums are correct the 50 MWh battery version would give approx 240 mile range. China certainly appear to be forging ahead on the energy revolution front leaving us Westy's floundering in their wake and struggling to keep up. Or just not ...

Re: Kintore Hydrogen project?
I think that the English Govt has shelved plans for H2 gas blend, but the Scottish Govt still intends to push ahead with a trial. https://kintorehydrogen.co.uk/ Thanks Joe, that was an interesting one until I read it was "providing the UK gas network with a large supply of green hydrogen"...

Re: Part ownership of a Ripple Wind Turbine, fancy it?
My VB is now 222% and I think with KH and then DW coming on stream I don't think I will ever have a net import of energy at Nowty towers in any month ever again. So far this month the house has exported a net 349kWh + 673 kWh on the GF wind turbine. My Nowty, that's hugely impressive. Perhaps you c...

Re: Part ownership of a Ripple Wind Turbine, fancy it?
With a CF of 88% for yesterday then a good return from GF taking Aprils total within a day or two of April '23 total for the entire month and we're but half way through!
As JB states Roll on KH generation so keeping our VB's in a healthy state ready for whatever next winter might throw at us.

Re: England could produce 13 times more renewable energy
China seems to have it by the bucket load. But then again other than coal I'm not sure what reserves they may have of the dreaded black liquid gold? They are 14th position just behind Qatar for oil reserves. https://www.worldometers.info/oil/oil-reserves-by-country/#google_vignette And 6...

Re: England could produce 13 times more renewable energy
Nearly there, they've updated the main article, but not the lede. The potential is incredible, reminds me of the reports that Stanford University have been publishing for 5yrs or so, showing that WWS (wind, water and solar) can meet the World's and individual countries, needs. Plus the technology (...
