Re: 102.5% US Tarriffs on BEV's
Very much related I'd say. I read yesterday that Ford is making an average loss of $100,000 per EV it makes which if true is insane. I know their sales of the F150 Lighting aren't exactly setting the world on fire, but are they really that far off making them at least break even? No wonder they kee...

Re: Idiot's guide to a self build battery
.. It was excellent to watch the balancer spring into life yesterday and start shunting power to the new stack. A decent DC clamp is a very handy tool indeed. https://i.postimg.cc/VkJghH28/20240509-174541.jpg Edit- balancer is down to shifting 0.1A now. As the second new stack is further away in DC...

Re: Fully electric container ship
Regen from slowing a vessel sounds difficult, progress with these things is made incrementally and easier things will be done first I guess. Our 6kW E-propulsion electric outboard has regen, although it's only on our small SIB safety boat so comes to a stop pretty quickly with little momentum, they...

Re: Idiot's guide to a self build battery
Tailgate of truck is only rated to 500kgs and consignment is 800kgs plus. Means I'm going to be handballing it off truck. :( That's rated for lifting, going down with 800kg will be quick and easy.. moving an 800kg pallet truck maybe not so easy. You could always offload onto a spare pallet si...

Re: April Generation 2024
April: Solar: 680 kWh Consumption: 577kWh System efficiency: 85% < Efficiency has gone up now we have loads of excess DC coupled solar generation. We're also using excess solar for electric heating top up, hence the consumption is much more than otherwise normal. The Sun has really turned a corner h...

Silly I know. Yeah! JK have some of the best BMS's but terrible documentation. i expect Felixstowe to be next dock in a day or so depending on alongside time in Rotterdam. Nearly there! :) Exciting! Lo...

and comes with an interesting/honest caveat: Note: JK provide no instructions with their BMS apart from those included in the downloadable PDF. We strongly recommend that you have a good working knowledge of LiFePO4 systems and BMS electrical equipment before purchasing this product. Yeah, crazy th...

Re: New standard bans solar batteries in lofts
Various thoughts from here and the you tube videos pointing out lipo batteries were inherently safer than limnco ones and faced with the installers insisting that the loft was the only practical place for them I relented. So did you have Li-Po or NMC batteries installed in the loft? Or did you mean...
