Avoid Scottish Power's SEG tarrif.

Have an existing FIT setup that's always been fine with them until being shunted onto their MINFO payment system. Registration takes months and support is non existent. Annoyingly I signed up another SEG setup to them as they'd always been fine (until recently) and been waiting since November for th...

Re: Rutland 913 Yaw repair

Can you get it to a competent welder? With a snapped off easy out in it too, your options for DIY are really limited. Even with the broken bit, welding *may* work. Especially if you can Dremel away a bit of the snapped bit with a diamond burr first. Happy to offer but am sure you'd be able to find s...

Re: Please help me with battery options and business case

Not sure if solar production is bad - it’s sheffield, with trees and houses limiting insolation. That probably explains it, I expect, roughly 1000kWh per kW of panels installed on a south facing, unshaded, sensible pitch roof. But all the things you mention will be nibbling into that. Presuming a m...

Re: Please help me with battery options and business case

Only an annual ~3000kWh from a 5.6kW PV system? Seems a bit low. Apologies, it's not the reason you started the thread and there may be good reasons that you're fully aware of, if so, ignore this!

Re: Kerosene (Heating Oil) in a tractor?

It's different. The main relevant difference is diesel has much better lubricity. So, by swapping it out, whatever portion you displace from the diesel, will affect the wear of components negatively. As mentioned, a bit on a full tank; meh. The more modern the machine the more vulnerable it will be....

Old SMA SB3300 inverter/s

As title, anyone have an old SMA inverter kicking around they'd be willing to sell? 2500, 3000 or, ideally, the 3300.

Many thanks

Re: Advice on UW switching day/night registers and charging for it.

You could, write them a letter, explaining the situation and that, in light of them not wishing to do anything about it, suggest you will be happy to proceed with 14hrs of cheap(er) electric, as opposed to just 10 and that you'll adjust your usage accordingly. Might be too late now the switch is in ...

Re: Massive battery + electric boiler

Using batteries to store energy you want to use for heating is bonkers. Economically and environmentally. Especially resistive heating with electricity you've bought. There are so many options for thermal storage that you could explore; water, phase change, high temperature, heat pumped geothermal, ...
