Re: A project crying out to be done!
You seem to have several options available : sunsynk, windyboy for a.c. coupling, or a programmable mppt for d c. Charging a battery- i think midnite solar or morningstar do an mppt with a programmable curve - i don't know about victron. But it would need to be an mppt with a high input voltage tole...

I assume the proven was operating as a direct to immersion/storage heater system? If so, then the quickest and simplest way to get it going is to re-instate it with the immersion in the new hot water cylinder, and existing(?) Storage heater(s). If you want to use the proven with the ashp / car / hou...

Re: Conversion of classic car to EV
I would tend to convert as soon as possible from an environmental pov. I did consider doing an ev conversion at one point, but didn't have the time. I don't know what age range your classic vehicle comes in, but I would aim for pre 2000 model if possible*: dvla introduced the emmissions part if the ...

Re: How to Fogstar battery?
Jk bms had a good reputation and were the most fully featured i think. i have a couple: one basic, one smart. But then JK went bit off with a lack of customer service for a while - not sure if they've gotten over it or not; Seplos seem to be a popular alternative but I have no experience of them. It...

Re: "Kinetic Hydro"
It looks 'plausible' and I can confirm that 380w coming in 24/7 is very useful. But (looking at the smaller unit): it requires 2.5m/s flow and a depth of 0.5m - that's quite a large, fast stream: if your stream is 1m wide and 0.5m deep (and rectangular), that's 1.25 m2 per second. I suspect that eve...

Re: Hoymiles problem, or grid voltage too high?
I don't know anything about hoymiles, so I don't know if you have access to its settings. If you can set it to a UK spec it ought to keep working up to 264v ish. That would be the optimum solution. You can get voltage optimisers that reduce the supply voltage to your house, though I'm not convinced ...

Re: Fogstar have 43% sale on EVE batteries
True enough - but it seems to be part of my essential nature - a part I've battled with my whole life.
Although in the case of solar panels, many of those who adopted early were more than compensated by the FIT they received.

Re: Fogstar have 43% sale on EVE batteries
Thanks for the heads up: it tipped me over the edge and I've gone and ordered a set. :xl: Still wondering if it was a wise decision: my suspicious mind makes me wonder if this is an indication that battery prices are about to plummet - if they do I'll be cursing. But it's too late to worry, as they'...

Re: Tesla mileage discrepancies.
It does seem a little far fetched, but then VW and others were caught 'cheating' the emissions tests, and Apple slowing their phones down, so it's not totally out there. But if all teslas did this, there would surely be a lot more people noticing mileage discrepancy. I suppose tesla could have a 'pr...
