Re: Idiot's guide to a self build battery

I have ordered an internal resistance checker just to be on the safe side. Should know in a few days If they are not damaged I obviously would prefer to get on with the project. I can run my two packs with 15 cells until I can get replacement for the crushed ones. Thanks all. I’ll let you know how I...

Re: Idiot's guide to a self build battery

I had some bad luck and it seems my second batch of batteries was damaged while being shipped. Colin has obviously immediately offered to sort it. Two of the batteries were crushed in the corner and obviously can not be used. What I could do with some advice about is the others. 9 of the batteries (...

Re: Pool and House ASHP (should I get both?)

Oh wow, thank you for the great replies. Some answers to your questions I have covered all my South East and South West facing roof in Solar Thermal and the remaining spots I have used for PV. I have 25 m2 of Solar Thermal (160x 58mm Evacuated tubes) and 28 m2 of PV, but some of that PV is less than...

Re: OFGEM Price Cap April to June Announcement 27th Feb

Sadly for those of us on an "Intelligent" tariff our daytime price remained significantly higher than the cap price as the government agreed that it was our average price that was subject to the cap. The more we load shift to the quiet (cheep) overnight period the lower our average price a...

Pool and House ASHP (should I get both?)

I am about to make the switch from gas. My house is well suited, large but all underfloor heating and lots of insulation, however I also have a 45,000 litre outdoor pool I use only in the summer. Today I have a single 13kw gas boiler that I use for house/hot water and the pool via a heat exchanger. ...

Re: Idiot's guide to a self build battery

For reference I used this Box from Wickes £23 and it fits 16 Eve cells perfectly (and has wheels) https://www.wickes.co.uk/Strata-Heavy-Duty-Trunk-with-Wheels+Handle-145L/p/236283?_br_psugg_q=storage+box The batteries are heavy so I used a piece of 12mm ply in the bottom to strengthen it. I mounted ...

Re: Yet another DIY LF280K Storage Battery

Hi Marshman My cells just turned up from Colin and I am about to start the same. I have a couple of questions if you have a moment this week. How are you planning to perform the switch? You now have a 16S battery that you want to introduce to a 15S stack so the voltages required for charging will be...

Re: Idiot's guide to a self build battery

I have made my way through the whole thread and it has convinced me to do what I should have done before. I gave the nice chap in China on this thread (if you have read the thread you know who I mean) the go ahead on Thursday to order my own 15 (plus a spare) 280k batteries. Turns out someone else o...

Re: Octopus saving sessions coming 1st Nov

@sw25481, how large is your solar array ? I used all my prime roof real estate with evacuated tubes from elsewhere I have squeezed 2.725 kW PV on a flat roof that is never shaded and 3.24kW on a flat garage roof that has all sorts of challenges in the winter but great in the summer. I mounted both ...
