Re: EPC and cavity wall insulation
When we bought our house the EPC said assumed cavity wall insulation, well they didn't look very hard, there wasn't any! I used an inspection camera from the loft. We did have it done since using multi sized balls, that still leaves some gaps for any moisture to drain down. The outside of the house ...

Re: Sunak to snooker Solar
It's a tricky situation, they don't want to pay farmers subsidies if they can help it, If the farmers can make more buy leasing out the land for solar.. Farming may be a way of life but no good if it's not a way of making a living. We have high welfare and environmental standards in the UK. With the...

Additional PV
Good evening, Silly question time. Obviously PV is not great during the winter. I installed a 1.2kWp system a number of years ago, non FIT. We had a very old meter non back stop :D unfortunately this has packed up so had to have a new meter fitted, not keen on smart so didn't have it commissioned. W...

Re: Life of solar PV components
Not sure on that thes cost of mc4 for domestic, could be a scaffolding charge at least on a ground mount easy to get to. I also seem to remember issues a few years ago with the back sheets failing on some modules. Doubt that there are too many power one (ABB) trios left out there, loads of problems ...

Re: Water Harvesting at Nowty Towers
Lots of hard work in that. I had a pressurised setup originally, with filters, did all the toilets and washing machine. We eventually moved and rented our original house out. So disconnected the system. Then after a couple of years dismantled the systems and installed into our other house. When for ...

Re: Installation of PV on Corrugated Asbestos Roof ??
I am trying to remember what we did, it's more to do with the clamping area on the panels. If this is able to fit within the purlins spacings, then you should be able to go horizontal rails with portrait modules, or go vertical rails with landscape panels. Best thing to do is setup as a user on the ...

We used to do lots of fibre cement roofs, with either steel of timber purlins. We just used to drill them , K2 do good mounting bolts for both timber and steel purlins, K2 call them hanger bolts.
You could reuse the existing holes in the sheeting if you were worried.

Re: Anyone else had a bill for the recent cold snap?
Our gas and electric came out at £260 for the month. Electrical energy usage was up from 5kWh day to 7 kWh. Some of that is I have converted 2/3 of the detached garage into a study area, I am now working from there. I only have a fan heater. I did find keeping the fan heater on 24 7on the thermostat...

Re: Thermal Imaging
I had some thermal imaging pictures done on our previous house about 10 years ago, I was the guy from the company that used to run the other forum. Some of it was we had one room that always felt cold so thought the builders left the insulation out. But it turned out to be ok. It was the trickle ven...
