Re: Dubai Lamps
I have one of those early yellow filtered LEDs, still running happily, and a load of cheap Integral lamps from 8 or so years ago. The colour's crap on pretty much all of them (I seem to remember the Philips Master achieving a CRI of 80, or was it 85), but they all still function. About two years ago...

Re: Dubai Lamps
I've been contemplating buying one of these just to see what it's like, and perhaps use somewhere like the downstairs hall, but I'm pretty sure the horrible colour rendering will upset me greatly so for most fixtures I'm going to hold out as long as I can until some A/B rated >90 Ra and R9 lamps app...

ASHP condensate - what can be done with it?
With the amount of water that an ASHP can generate - is there anything that can be done with it?
I've seen figures of around 50l/day for smaller residential ones (5/6kW) and much more for the larger ones.
Collection for window cleaning? Flushing toilets?

Re: SO those A+ rated Philips Hue bulbs are now F or G !?
We've a selection of CFLs that will continue to be in use until they die, but I'm a sucker for flicker free high CRI fixtures so I'm constantly on the lookout for the best options for our most used rooms. Our kitchen was all Philips Master ExpertColor GU10s in 4500k before we moved house, and it was...

Re: SO those A+ rated Philips Hue bulbs are now F or G !?
Honestly this is far too late. Everyone just considered that LEDs were all super efficient as they were all better than A rated. The reality is that most of the non smart ones are massively over-driven from their optimum current, increasing heat output and massively shortening their lifespan. Smart ...

Re: Average Electricity Consumption
That's wood fibre right?
I think 5mm is about the maximum I've seen too, which makes sense to not raise your floor height too much, but could definitely be better in terms of insulation.

Re: Average Electricity Consumption
Its a laminated floor glued directly to the concrete. So not ideal. Have you come across any particularly good products for this issue if you were going to replace the laminate? We've just moved away from a house with solid concrete floor but at least for carpet I stumbled across this underlay from...

Re: Window reveals - thermal bridging removal and making good.
Mmm, yes, well the wall seems sound, no water ingress so far but I'll keep it in mind. I think the existing cavity wall insulation is cellulose anyway which would of course also be problematic if there was any water ingress. The utopian plan is external wall insulation down the line, but who knows h...

Re: Window reveals - thermal bridging removal and making good.
The depth there is about 4-6 inches, and there's a bit more on the other side. My thinking with the wool was that it would breath, at least as well as the loose fill cavity wall insulation that's already there. Ideally I'd perhaps stick the celotex in, and then fill behind with loose fill, but then ...
