Yes because it work hardens so easily, you need a constant feed so bit does not skid.

Core drill is a nice Idea if the part can be fixed in the vice of a pillar drill.

Re: Rutland 913 Yaw repair

If it is the bit I have circled in blue and it is an ss bolt with a snapped extractor in aluminium the modern way is to spark erode a hex or torx hole into it and then unscrew it with an allen key or torx driver, probably too expensive even if you can find a workshop that does it. You could try usin...

Re: Shed solar on a budget

We use a solariboost unit and a switchbot remote finger (no joke) to time demand or spot demand on HWT charging. It has been an excellent combo allowing us a controlled use of large volume solar or letting the ct clamp sense the out going power and diverting to tank. Good for about 12kWh on a stati...

Re: Part ownership of a Ripple Wind Turbine, fancy it?

Openspaceman, I did mean you could put 2850 Watts of notional generation power and select 100% of it. That will produce just under 6900kWh which is comfortably under the 7000kWh limit without evidence being required, assuming this is your first ripple project. Ah my misreading but I am happy with t...

Re: Part ownership of a Ripple Wind Turbine, fancy it?

I disagree, ....... if yout total exceeds 7000kwh purchase (including existing holdings) a red box appears asking for proof of useage and you cannot proceed with puchase. It would not let me purchase more than 100% consumption despite the end limit showing 120%. George Ditto mine will only go to 10...

You can buy 2850W no evidence required or questions asked. ;)

That keeps you a tad under the 7000kWh annual spotlight.

Re: PV so cheap it can be used as structure

Yes I wasn't thinking right, NS would seem to be optimal for central reservation above the concrete barriers. I wonder about cleaning, My roof is higher at around 6 metres and I have only cleaned them twice in 12 years, spray from vehicles would be an issue.

I was thinking bifacial panels on the EW facing sections of motorways could have potential.
