Re: Part ownership of a Ripple Wind Turbine, fancy it?
I missed on the extra Kirk hill but will put my remaining 40% into the new solar farm, particularly as they've announced it's only 20 miles from me. It sounds like they'll be doing some great environmental work on the site as well from what's in the email I received this morning.

Re: Ripple project 3 webinar date
And they've announced it's going to be 20 miles from me, living here in Torridge in Devon. I'll be putting our remaining 40% allowance in to it and can pop over and take some progress photos as it goes through the build.

Unless your at the very top of the waiting list, you will be waiting a very long time, probably forever, so I would go with the Solar farm. The released shares are only from a few individuals who could not keep up their monthly payments so had to withdraw from the CoOp. If however you get lucky and...
Re: Eggs?
When the flu outbreak caused lockdown here in Devon, I bought a big net to go over our (20mx20m) chicken run. Over the course of the winter 6 chickens have removed every trace of the once long grass. I'm now throwing hay in every week to give them something to kick through and so that it's not all a...

Re: Extra batteries & future system expansion
That's it - button pushed - 2nd Sunsynk 5.12kWh battery ordered :D Hopefully arrive in time to make the most of this spring and summer - then need to get over to Octopus and get 'economy 7' type tariff sorted to take advantage of overnight battery charging too I switched to Octopus last year, onto ...

Re: Finally almost finished my project
Andy that's a cracking system you have. Since installing my batteries last year I've been using Home Assistant and Solcast to look at predicted PV generation but have not yet got to figuring out how to get that to work with expected charging needs and overnight cheap rate charging. Currently I just ...

Re: Ahoy-hoy BEE-KEEPERS
I built a wax extractor that uses a spare hive body to hang the frames and then a metal base with a metal sieve to strain the wax. A top board has a hole for a wallpaper steamer and I run it on sunny days off the PV as needed. I tend to keep frames until I have a box full to do. Mind you, I lost my ...

Re: Starting Growing - Tomatoes etc
I picked up a pantry (full height) fridge from eBay for £10 a few years ago. I put a tube heater in the bottom with the cable going out through the drain along with the thermometer head coming in the same way. A controller has the heater and fridge plugged into it and you set the temps you want. If ...

Re: Part ownership of a Ripple Wind Turbine, fancy it?
For those that didn't max out their ripple turbine investment, are you more inclined to put into the upcoming solar farm or take more of the remaining Kirk Hill option that's just been released? I have 80% of my allowance in Kirk Hill and was aiming to put the remaining 40% (up to the allowed 120%) ...

Re: ASHP with WiFi TRVs
I have a Tado thermostat/controller for our ground source heat pump and fitted individual wifi trv's on each radiator around the house except the ones that were required to be free flow. After a year of trying to figure out issues with the heat pump, we took them all off and put regular trv's back o...
