+1 on that sentiment from me 👍

I was one of the lucky ones who got my installation in the nick of time. Probably looking at a pound per kWh by the time we get to the end of the 25 years. 😁
+ another one here, and the deemed export is also a nice bit on top.

Re: Offshore floaters require "heavy maintenance"

The upside is that the work can be done at a dockside in a much better/safer environment than if they were planted into the seabed. It reads that it's the turbines not the floatation bit that's knackered so that does not bode well for the planted ones.
I was beaten to it!!

Re: New approach for some more charging points

Having listened to a BT man on R4 Wed midday-ish I'm even more convinced it's PR over reality. They are going to use the power that's already in the cabinets, currently powering broadband amplifiers, to charge numerous vehicles. Serious green-washing is going on, they will HAVE to install a much lar...

Re: New approach for some more charging points

I reckon 80/100A single phase supply inside box looped into a mains cable nearby A standard old style cabinet had only telephone wires in it, NO mains. 50v dc within the phone wires normally and slightly higher AC when the phone was being rung, a bit of a surprise is you were working on it at the t...

Re: Mr Bates

Our view is the a very large section of the UK public are living in a cosy bubble, don't listen to a voice radio station, get their news via social media etc. May the Lord help this country. We're glad to be 73 and not 23 at present, with luck we won't see the results.

Re: New approach for some more charging points

I shall believe this when I can see it in operation, I'm still sure it's B.S. having spent many unhappy hours with my head in the cabinets.

Re: New approach for some more charging points

They can't reuse the BT ducting as too tight bends for heavy armoured leccy cable and wrong colour for safety purposes. They'll still need to get a large power supply to the cabinet underground as well. I repeat my view that it's BS.

Re: New approach for some more charging points

They are effectively being used as an electrical junction box to provide power to the charge point installed nearby, the headline is a little misleading. Having had a reread of the article it's cobblers. In the old redundant cabinets the only power in there is 50v DC in the telephone cables. Any po...

Re: New approach for some more charging points

The existing cabinets would need to be removed to install the ducting for the heavier leccy cables so why not put a new one in a more appropriate...

Re: Mr Bates

Why did it take a TV programme to shame our Government into action? This has gone on under Labour, Coalition and Tory regimes and they all accepted "Nothing To See Here" from the P.O. They need to pin down who knew what and when and reclaim the compensation from Jujitsu if possible rather ...
