Re: Underground Hot Water storage
Just thinking out loud, perhaps you want the sand wet, to increase total mass, so long as there is little to no flow allowing heat to escape. There are two different types of heat store being confused here. Bear in mind that water has a much higher specific heat capacity than rock / sand (Water - 4...

Re: Grid voltage
I think 230 came in to equalise us with Europe. My voltage drops overnight too. Are you near a very high overnight energy user? The reason to increase the voltage during this period could be to ensure the voltage does not drop too low for anyone connected near the high load, but you must be upstream...

A dual bench power supply with current limiting which has 2 x 30V outputs can be put in series to give the required voltage. You would set a maximum voltage and a suitable current limit for charging.

Re: Starlink terminal
We also have copper at a max of 3.5 Mbps and have been told we will have FTP many times by openreach. (They couldn't organise a pxxxxup in a brewery though). Last time I asked I was told we will be able to order it in Jan 2025. I've been using a phone in the loft, with a 3 sim card in it and set on...

Re: Starlink terminal
I have never had an issue with speeds - it is something like 150Mbps. In the early days in the UK there were outages of a few seconds quite often - something which would not affect streaming but could be annoying at times. It seemed to be regular - like there was a slightly larger gap between some o...

I pay €40 in the Algarve! Have had it for 3+ years in the Uk. No fibre on our street still and we are getting on for half a mile from the BT cabinet so copper broadband is limited speed. BT wanted about £5k to install fibre and a 3 year contract - I am not paying for them to install the fibre infras...

Re: Octopus ASHP Quotation Received
Wondering now whether the Octopus Cosy would be suitable for my flat... Last time I checked, Octopus were not installing in flats. I think this is because there are issues with siting the ASHP on the outside - ie. generally, with a leasehold flat, you don't own the outside skin of the building and ...

Re: Any good electricians here ?
In my experience, multiple series RCDs, particularly of the same trip current / timing can cause nuisance trips for no reason. Having said that, it ran fine before. You now have single to 3 phase drives which possibly have increased the transient voltages in the system without the whole of the grid ...

Re: Octopus Free Power Hours
You've used £21.77 of Free Electricity so far ⚡️ Here’s a breakdown of how you did: On Sunday 18th August, you used 20.29kWh extra electricity, worth £4.85. You used 20.39kWh during the session and based on your meter data from the previous few weeks, you'd normally have used 0.1kWh at this time. On...
