Re: Septic tanks. Plastic? Powered?

Thank you everyone. I knew Navetroids/Camelids would know all there is to know on this one. The discharge from the existing - knackered - septic tank goes straight into the burn, so it feels like the powered plastic system is the right answer. Reassuring that it is pretty much fit and forget, and th...

Septic tanks. Plastic? Powered?

Hi folks. I've always thought of a septic tank as something that sits and does its job, with zero external imput other than sewage, for decades. Ie almost certainly made of bricks and definitely without a power supply. I'm aware this may be a bit old school but it's certainly how the septic tank in ...

Re: Back boilers banned?

Morning CharlieB From the little bit that I had read before all new stoves have to comply with the governments Eco-design standard to address the pollutants and particulate that arise from burning wood and solid fuel. There was a period where the details around the requirements were vague and in pl...

Re: Back boilers banned?

Thanks all. This makes perfect sense. Finding a plumber/installer to fit it is going to be a major challenge but I'm glad to hear they still exist. This is for a small farm cottage. It's currently got an open fire with a boiler. Stove can't but be an improvement. And I'm pretty sure the particular e...

Back boilers banned?

Hi folks.
Someone suggested to me just now that back boilers on stoves have been banned since 2022. I hadn't heard anything and find it hard to believe. Does anyone know anything? (We're in Scotland for what it's worth, but I'd be surprised if there was a special reg here.)

It looks like this one’s being discontinued. Doesn’t hit eco design.

Has no one come across Contura?

Re: Contura stoves any good?

I'm looking for a landscape inset stove with two doors. Those hunter / Di Lusso ones all have one door, so it would swing out too far for the fender stool to stay in place.

Contura stoves any good?

Hi all. I'm looking for an insert stove with double doors and the Contura i5 is the only one I've found so far. Does anyone know if Contura stoves are any good? https://www.contura.eu/en-gb/stove-collection/fireplace-inserts/Contura-i5-_-3526 Or any other double-doored inset stoves? (We had a fender...

Re: Heating for tiny office

Zero headroom, annoyingly. We'd have considered a proper floor if so. I should have said this is a home office. For me and possibly wife, if she can cope with the cold! Max a day a week and it wouldn't be all day, so it's not worth going all-out. I'll keep thinking about flooring. Some sort of matti...
