Re: octopus heat pump deal / investment.
Looking good. Have you got more battery storage on your shopping list for the winter ?, seeing as you have Octopus Go. Surprised about your poor shower pressure, 3 Bar is what we have and the shower blasts through nicely. I've been looking at a pylontech us5000c (I currently have 2x us300...

Re: octopus heat pump deal / investment.
Hi, sorry been a bit quiet from me. We had Octopus install our HP earlier this month. I did the maths and seemed like a good deal (to me). 11kw Daiken Altherma, 300l hot water tank, 11 new rads and I changed all my pipework to 32mm copper - some of my handy work / pipe bending below - I've never plu...

Re: Goodwe Hybrid Inverters, any good?
Ignore the below, I've come late to the party and see you're considering Tigos! Makes sense 8-) Looking as your proposed installation, would you not need / be better off with Solaredge? Yes will add to install costs but you've got a decent amount of shading, varying orientation and pitches? They don...

Re: How close to a roof edge can panel corners/bottom be?
My installer wouldn't go less than 300mm from edges. Wind was the reason to keep 300mm from edges. The images look less than 300mm but on measuring they're not far off 300mm I'm sure. We're on the corner so get awful wind impacts. Neighbouring properties have ridge tiles flying regularly. So was hap...

Re: octopus heat pump deal / investment.
I installed a 6kW air source heat pump here myself in 2014. The total cost (heat pump and all required parts to connect it to existing underfloor heating) was about £2,000. The bare heat pump, delivered on a pallet, was £1,700. I had never installed one before, but had previously installed a wood b...

Re: Hello,
Wow! Didn't realise it was July since I had last posted! Been busy busy. Progress has been good. I found an excellent local installer. 18x 360w SolarEdge system installed and up and running! Solis AC charger, SolarEdge modbus and 2x 3000c pylontech installed and awaiting commissioning! Oh, and passa...

Re: octopus heat pump deal / investment.
I was click baited by Octopus with that blog. I had Octopus out last week to price my property. £6,200 for a heatpump for my 1947 property with £5,000 BUS. 8 new rads, largest size HP, flow temp 50 degrees, heating SCOP 3.56. Hot water SCOP 2.771. Supply and fitting of everything including 300l wate...

Re: Victron or Lux
The ability to charge the battery pack at a fairly high rate is very useful. The ME3000SP seems to be able to hit about 65A at times, and I've often wished it would be a bit higher, so the pack could be charged faster. I'd not want a lower charge rate, as there are plenty of times where we get shor...

Re: Victron or Lux
Great stuff - thanks Oldgreybeard, a bit of knowledge is power. Out of interest and technical question looking at the specs the ME3000SP it charges discharges at 60A The victron 48/3000 does 32A that's quite low or am I missing something? So in a slight change of direction, I'm a bit put off by the ...

Re: Victron or Lux
Thanks Oldgreybeard that makes good sense. Following on from finding the Lux squirrel being priced higher than expected, I started looking into 3kwh inverters last night and appears to be a reasonable proposition. A few have opted for a Sofar3000 this seems like quite a cost effective bit of kit. As...
