Re: Smart Meter IHD

OGB, what format did your meter output? £30 sounds like a bargain!

Re: Smart Meter IHD

If you are of a technical bent, you could add your own monitoring solution. In addition to the various suggestions in a recent thread here on monitoring re. EMON and similar, I've had good success with PZEM-004T modules from Aliexpress for the measurement side and ePaper displays for prevailing Octo...

Re: DIY clothes drying

We have one of those Victorian style clothes drier things, with a winch that hoists it up close to the ceiling in the utility room. Yes, 'Sheila Maid' is a brand-name version of that thingy. Super rainy local micro-climate + cob construction (with correspondingly high indoor humidity) means stuff j...

Hi Dan - FWIW, wandering Amazon and comparing specs, I have yet to find an air-fryer that goes higher than 200C.

Re: More air fryer comparisons ..& boy I'm hyped. Instantpot gourmet crisp.

How important is the pressure cooker aspect of Instant Pots? (Is IP a trademark or a generic term?) Obvs it depends what one is cooking, so I guess the question is really - IP owners, do you use the pressure cooker aspect & what do you cook with it. And for those who have the more oven-like/bask...

DIY clothes drying

In which we discuss the Drying of clothes using DIY equipment, not The Drying of clothes that are homemade... :-) Has anyone experimented with DIY clothe drying. An article today on hackaday.com highlights the possibility of using ultrasound (I seem to remember some consumer products based on this t...

Re: Bodgineering - DIY carbonation

OGB, any chance you could post a link to the bits you bought to attach to the cylinder? Whenever I embark on this kind of thing, I seem to end up with a pile of incompatible parts. (I'm still baffled by the array of air compressor fittings available...). I'm hoping CO2 welding gas comes in a UK stan...

Re: G100 export limiting

They are as their name implies, current transformers, so are voltage independent almost. Don't most CTs have an integral burden resistor? If so, wouldn't that mean the inverter end of the measurement was of a voltage that was proportional to the current flowing in the CT, iyswim? I'm no expert and ...

Re: G100 export limiting

> The current clamps generate pretty small voltages. Screening, as well as twisted pairs, may help (Cat6e is screened I think). Or some DIY buffering/amplifying perhaps. If lightning is a potential issue, you'd also want some sort of galvanic isolation to protect your inverter from being fried Exper...
