Re: Octopus Smart Meter? Thoughts!!

Be careful with Octopus, I am having massive problems getting them to fit a smart meter because I transfered from Bulb. They will not even give me a date for when they will restart fitting. If you export a lot I think you need to look at flux as the export rates are double anything else available am...

Re: Hydrogen blending costs

So here's a question: are all the gas boilers in use tested for use with such a fuel mix? I imagine the issues around combustion aren't that different but I wonder on the effect of warranties on preciously installed gas boilers.

Re: Solar at my workplace

That was with a combination of the green screen studio in use for a couple of hours, and charging up 1x EV - I'd limited the charging power to 4kW on the car so that it didn't go too far into importing - seemed to work well. It's the weekends when we're not really doing anything here when we're goi...

Re: Solar at my workplace

I like these sorts of problems because there are multiple points of view not just the obvious financial payback of the system but other competing options as you said. Given that export is a quarter of import rates and you have a straight 2kW use at all times of the day and night (but does this inclu...

Re: Sanyo / Panasonic HIT250 panels

Nope, second hand panels are not worth £500, regardless of their provenance. Edit - sorry just saw your post saying they're new. Even so they're still not worth that. You can buy brand new 400W panels for £300 these days. For £200 Inc VAT, and less for 400W panels. I wonder if the argument is like ...

Re: Solar at my workplace

Import is 74p and export is how much again? 24p? 15p? And normal usage is around 3kWh without the studio and up to 12kWh with the studio? Any ToU tariffs in place or available? So the question isn't just battery storage but also discharge rate, which is related to the amount of storage. There are pr...

Re: April Bunny

32.2kWh here, four loads through the washer and two loads tumble dried, hoovered the house, run the dishwasher, filled the batteries. And still exported 17.4kWh. Just misjudged the fall off slightly and imported 0.3kWh more than should be necessary (I suspect I will always import 0.1kWh).
