Re: "Grid Stabilisation Park"
What's the difference between one of these and those great big spining wind turbine things?
Being serious here, not trolling: I don't get why wind turbines don't work for this?

Re: Waterwheel snapped shaft
What an excellent refurb /repair. You would hope the owner would come to the party even if just costs ........ Looks like about 1 weeks work + £1,000 stated parts? At his skill level that's about £3k + travel & accommodation. He should NOT be carrying that whole can. The customer got a complete...

Re: Part ownership of a Ripple Wind Turbine, fancy it?
I've talked this over with my wife. Due to tax considerations we think these co-op models are uninvestible for us in any meaningful sense. For context two higher rate tax payers with a £10,000 emergency fund paying 5% interest already use half the interest allowance. Add in other general slush funds...

Ok, so I'm understanding that the ability to increase your annual usage on the Ripple system simply enables you to buy shares in any future schemes, but no option to increase existing holdings. Great, that focuses the mind a bit - time for some good number crunching tomorrow I think... MrPablo, are...

What's better, £2,000 into this, or into 8 commercial panels on a suboptimal pergola connected to a battery stack via dc charge controllers? That's the scenario I'm looking at and I suspect that keeping the wife happy is the governing factor. It's probably the wind farm for me.

Re: Giant Canadian "Green" H2 plant gets approval
Green Hydrogen and ammonia . So it looks like they generate the H2 in situ, store it locality, then produce the ammonia from it. Ticks the box that it has two sources of reneable energy (wind, hydro) for inputs, (and who knows, maybe even tidal at some point in other places in the Newfie grid freein...
