Re: Solar panels on pergola - what is everyone doing?
Anybody any experience with bifacial panels? I think they let through more light, between cells. How to fix them(they are glass edged, no metal surround), how to keep water from dripping between panels? Are there any kits or designs out there for this kind of thing? There’s lots of space for a sout...

Solar panels on pergola - what is everyone doing?
Hi,
Planning on adding some panels to a pergola in the garden and looking for ideas and inspiration.
Wood or aluminium frame would be ideal.
Thanks.

MCS for self installed solar
Hi, I have a self installed solar array. All registered with the DNO etc, and above board with regards to wiring regulations. Does anyone know if there is a way to get the install MCS (or other) certified, and if there is any point as the FIT is no more? I have read there is a smart export guarantee...

Net metering - export without FIT
Hi,
I have a smart meter and solar installed as a DIY, so I don’t have a FIT.
If I export to the grid, I know I won’t get paid, but will I get charged? I’ve read some older meters can’t differentiate between import and export.
How does this work when using smart meters?
Thanks.

Re: G100 devices
If you have two inverters connected to the grid, say a PV inverter and a battery system inverter, then the export sum of both has to remain within whatever limit the DNO will allow under G99 (which used to be called G59). This also applies if you have two G98 (used to be G58) compliant inverters, s...

Re: G100 devices
Because the G100 device has a CT clamp sensor at the grid point so it knows whether the house is exporting or importing and by how much. OK, say you have one G98 3.68kW inverter with no export control and one ESS inverter which is essentially a zero export inverter and the batteries are full. Yes t...

Re: G100 devices
By throttling back, think of a dimmer switch on a light bulb. I understand that, what I don’t understand is the following scenario. If the ESS is supplying loads, and solar production begins, it won’t see a demand and in theory, if the solar inverter is set to zero export, it will sit there idling?...

G100 devices
Hi, When applying for G99, does both the solar inverter and the ESS need G100, or only one of the devices? I am assuming one of them, to limit the total export. The question I have is for solar arrays. If the battery is full, and the solar array is producing full power, how will the solar inverter p...

Re: Enphase with Alpha ESS
Thanks. The alpha battery has G100 export limitation, set to zero export. This means that it does not export to the grid, so even if the solar inverter is at full output (G98) the battery does not export. The question I suppose is does the Enphase inverter need to be set to zero export? I hadn't re...

Re: G99 fast track commissioning
Hi, Permission was granted and all documents for the inverters etc approved. They will be contacting me for commissioning forms. The system just works, and does exactly as it should. This was self installed (complaint with Part P etc). When they call, I just need to know what they’ll ask for. Print...
