Here's another small contribution .. thinking ahead to next winter, I've added another 3.5kWh of battery to my system, for a total capacity of 12kWh.
That'll probably be my last, as I'm running out of space in the cupboard where it all lives, but who knows?

Re: Under sink water heaters
Thanks for the comments. The flexi hoses didn't come with the heater but the instructions said to use them, so I got them from Screwfix. It does give the flexibility (ha) to move the heater slightly in the cupboard if required - it's not fixed down at all just free standing. I'll keep an eye on them...

Re: Under sink water heaters
Well it's been a while, but I finally got round to posting an update on this. I went ahead with my under sink water heater plan. In the end I got a "Hyco SpeedFlow stainless steel" with 10L capacity. "Must be fitted by a qualified person", so um, yeah, I fitted it myself. It's no...

Re: Doubts about attic location for the Pylon batts.
Only had my system since December, it hasn't been through any really warm weather yet. I'll leave the battery monitor app running for 24 hours some day to see how the temperature fluctuates, but they don't seem to change much. There's a lot of mass in those batteries to heat / cool.

Re: Doubts about attic location for the Pylon batts.
FWIW both my inverter and batteries (Pylon) are in the kitchen, or rather in a kitchen cupboard. They never got cold over winter, but on a sunny day I have seen inverter temperatures of 40C. I might have to add some ventilation if that increases over summer. But the batteries have never gone above 2...

Just a minor point, you don't need an EV to be on the Octopus Go tariff.

Re: Grid inverter that shuts down if exporting power to grid
Did I misunderstand the question? I thought OP was talking about not exporting excess solar, but actually they're asking about not needlessly discharging batteries to the grid? In which case, yeah, what nowty said. Although the adjustment isn't going to be perfect and you'll always lose a tiny amoun...

Re: Grid inverter that shuts down if exporting power to grid
Ooh a widowmaker :) I think most hybrid inverters have an export limiting feature.. Certainly my sofar hyd 3600 has a thing called 'anti reflux' in the menu, which claims to do just that. I've never enabled it because I've never seen a reason to limit export, even if I'm not getting paid for it. I m...

Re: Second hand panels - how much would you pay?
I recently got some of the Canadian Solar 410W panels from Bimble, they are reasonably large and unwieldy. The 600W ones would be even more awkward!

Re: Under sink water heaters
Have you considered a hybrid, ASHP x gas? That's what I've just started thinking about. I'm a bit worried that my house is not suitable for ASHP but perhaps I could do UFH run by ASHP and also use ASHP only during warmer days (when it's around 10C I can drop boiler temp to around 40 and it's good e...
