Re: April Generation 2024

Not quite as good a month as last year, down 30kWh vs 2023.
Saying that, PV contribution was still 94% of house usage - the fan heater has been on a fair bit this month to soak up the excess PV whilst it was still cold.

Re: Part ownership of a Ripple Wind Turbine, fancy it?

I ended up buying 600w of WB. I did consider more, but there were several reasons why I decided against it. - Tax implications (similar to Krill). - Desire to decarbonise at home, so the money was better earmarked for heat pump & EV. - Improving home efficiency, improving insulation, etc, so tha...

Ok, so I'm understanding that the ability to increase your annual usage on the Ripple system simply enables you to buy shares in any future schemes, but no option to increase existing holdings. Great, that focuses the mind a bit - time for some good number crunching tomorrow I think... MrPablo, are...

Re: Part ownership of a Ripple Wind Turbine, fancy it?

I had a similar thought process, but the only way more solar makes sense for me is if I get paid for export. That means MCS install on the roof of the house and I doubt that would be cheap. Winter generation is where I fall short and I think a wind farm will counteract that nicely. It's just a case ...

Re: Part ownership of a Ripple Wind Turbine, fancy it?

I've already put a reservation down, just got to decide how much to put in. Annual consumption last year was 1400kWh, but the future will see an EV and hopefully a heat pump. I see that evidence is only needed for 7000kWh and above, and you can increase by a standard 3000kWh for an EV, 4000kWh for a...

Re: Were getting closer to the battery solution (Now completed)

Interesting to see that the panel choice makes such a difference in shade, what's the difference (apart from size and power output)?

Re: March Generation 2024

A poor start to the month but with some good days towards the end. Sadly the lack of consistent production meant grid charging was greater than March 2023.

Re: Were getting closer to the battery solution

If I were to go back in time (or more realistically have the quantity of PV and batteries to make it truly worthwhile), I would definitely look at a Victron setup. Very nice setup Tay!

Re: Idiot's guide to a self build battery

You can definitely stack 2x 25mm cables on one side of the NH00 holder, at least the model I've used.
I installed a friend's setup with 5x Pylontech US3000C, split across two banks into the same fuse holder, works well.
