Re: Labour to use royal land to boost wind energy
One point I picked up on was that having the Crown Estate put money in (from surplus which would otherwise go to the exchequer) it doesn't count as government / public spending! I have no problem at all with public spending, especially for investment, but if this means that we can invest but avoid ...

Re: Labour to use royal land to boost wind energy
How is this different to the offshore wind farms that have all already been built and the ones that are in planning - they're all based on land made available by the Crown Estate as well? Or have I missed something? Sounds like The Crown Estate will invest in projects and not just provide seabed le...

Re: Renewable's overtake gas in the UK supply for last winter

Just look at the number and size of them - goodness me. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_natural_gas_pipelines See also https://globalenergymonitor.org/projects/g...

Would the existing safety cases apply to a new build or have new build safety requirements moved on?

Re: wind curtailment
Given that the majority of the generation is North and the bulk of the load is based in the South would a shallow submarine cable or two laid along the coastal waters be a cheaper easier solution to transmission costs compared with a land based solution ? Apologies if this already exists. Moxi The ...

Full dashboard only works on desktop. Includes estimates of embedded wind and solar so tends to report a higher figure than sites that don't. Doesn't handle exports clearly though.

https://www.insider.com/oceangate-ceo-stocktoin-rush-titanic-sub-gateway-oil-gas-harvesting-2023-6 Clearly he never stopped to properly think about why the oil and gas industry uses ROVs not instead of manned submersibles. Size, manoeuvrability, time on station and operating depths. The excuse about...

Re: Port of Dundee
Quite a lot of wind turbine components sitting in the port of Dundee, I don't know which windfarm they are for. likely for the Moray field. Port of Dundee is the marshalling and pre-assembly yard for EDF's 459 MW (54 x 8 MW turbines) Neart na Gaoithe (NnG) wind farm, 15.5km east of Fife Ness in the...
