Re: Storage Heaters, Tariffs & Control
Octopus have a storage heater tariff - don't know if useful? https://octopus.energy/smart/snug-octopus/ It is pretty much the same as vanilla Go IIRC. But unfortunately you need the auxiliary load control switch (ALCS) on a second generation (SMETS2) smart meter which I think very few have. I seem ...

Re: Storage Heaters, Tariffs & Control
I have dipped my toe in the Shelly world.
The functionality is terrific, some users seem to have reliability problems but so far so good for me.

Re: Storage Heaters, Tariffs & Control
Pretty simple to put a timer and contactor in the CU. Alternatively you can have your SH CU permanently powered and have timed FCUs (such as this one: https://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Products/SMFST24.html) but that is a total faff IMO. Thanks all for the comments, helps me with the unknown unknowns, t...

Storage Heaters, Tariffs & Control
We have heated our house with storage heaters for 30 years and found them to be a good solution for us, but considering how to run with an cheaper EV tariff. We have "traditionally" wired system, a 5 terminal smart meter that controls the switching of the seperate storage heater fuse board...

Re: Monitoring Battery Capacity
Thanks all Feel like I am going down a bit of a rabbit hole here, as ever answers come at multiple levels of complexity. Krill makes a valid point, To be clear: I've had my house stack for 9 months now and I have no cloue exactly how much they hold, but this doesn't matter to me. What matters is tha...

Monitoring Battery Capacity
A newbie question so go easy. So how do you guys (and others) measure the capacity of your batteries. I appreciate the cells lose storage over time but not sure how to measure the current storage capacity of my batteries. I have a LuxAC3600 invertor and (nominally at least) 9.6kWh of battery storage...

Re: New tariffs from 1 January
Economy 7 is indeed crap. Unfortunately it's better than any of the other available options. My EV isn't compatible with Octopus, so an EV tariff is out. Cosy is the only other available tariff here and it's more expensive than E7 and less usable. E7 rates 33.758p day, 14.99 p night rising to 35.53...
