Re: Starting out on my heat pump journey

March was an incredible month for solar, we generated 1357 kWh, we exported 1649 kWh and imported 1123, mostly at 7p kWh.

Today we generated 65.58 kWh, currently at 59.5 kWh exported, may even break my record of 70 kWh exported.

Re: Starting out on my heat pump journey

My house, which is mostly 1970s and around 170 square meters, has a heat loss of just under 7 kW, so I would think a 100 year old 370m2 house would likely need more than 8.5kW. Maybe, maybe not! He says the insulation has been thoroughly upgraded. If the insulation has been upgraded to a high stand...

Re: Starting out on my heat pump journey

Yuff, hopefully you can get it sorted, and get the grant.

Hopefully everything will go well on my install, but something usually doesn't get done properly when I get professionals in.

Re: Starting out on my heat pump journey

I've got the engineer visiting Friday, so I've pulled the cabinets out in the kitchen, the fridge was pulled out the utility room three weeks ago. https://postimg.cc/gallery/wYhVkKWV Just me on my own today, but it went OK. Pull out larder emptied, oven removed, cabinets pulled forward, there is als...

Re: ASHP & triple glazing

Thanks, he's got no crawl space, but then he hasn't any fixed floor covering, and all floorboards are easily removed, the bigger problem would be moving stuff out the way with somewhere to put it.

Re: ASHP & triple glazing

Interesting info NoraBatty, we've solid floors mostly uninsulated, but my brother has got wooden floors and been buying up cheap lots of celotex off eBay, he was wondering what method to use to seal around the edges and get a nice fit, although he's probably too tight for Gapotape, but it seems idea...

Re: ASHP & triple glazing

I am always weary to get tradespeople in nowadays after cowboy builders nearly brought the whole back of the house down when creating an opening for bi-folds and removing a chimney breast a few years back. Still trying to get back on track after that... Cowboys everywhere unfortunately. I can imagi...

Re: ASHP & triple glazing

When I installed our bi-folds I went with them opening outwards, but with hindsight they would have been better opening inwards, but only due to restricted space on the decking, and the doors would have folded back onto the internal walls, so more out of the way. The kitchen doors needed to fold out...

Re: ASHP & triple glazing

Thanks, my best month is also usually May.

We will certainly be generating higher amounts, I added an additional 6.8 kWp of panels last October
