Re: Cost analysis for batteries (ROI)

Interestingly there have been many people recently installing batteries without the solar because the payoff from batteries was better than solar!
Presumably charging cheap rate and using an Ev tarrif? Or have I misunderstood?

Re: Despatches "Dirty secrets of american food"

Something has gone very wrong with food in America, and as with many such things we're not far behind. I eat mainly meat, eggs and dairy that I try very hard to buy direct form the farmer. Food miles are kept as short as I can reasonably achieve and I avoid processed/packaged foods as far as possib...

Re: Cost analysis for batteries (ROI)

Sorry. I am grid negative (annually), however I do still shower on foggy days 😉 so I import. But I am going to check my numbers again. I agree some things you do just for fun & nurdery. But the wind & solar for me was an interesting and enjoyable investment. But I struggle to make batteries ...

Cost analysis for batteries (ROI)

I really can see the enjoyment in running a battery storage solution.

I am grid negative (if that's even a thing) I produce more than I use.

But I can't make batteries add up financially, there is no roi, it's a cost.

Am I missing something?

Re: Heat pump or immersion hot water?

I had a problems with my ashp, after turning it off for the summer (at the isolator).

Ever since, it stays in on but with no demand, and has been fine on that front.

I might find it something to do in the summer.

Re: Heat pump or immersion hot water?

Got it. Getting a bit off-topic on my own thread. 🤣🤣

I settled on larger tank & tank blender, for easiness.

Re: Heat pump or immersion hot water?

For storage I get it. 👍🏼
But then that is very hot tap water, is there a scalding risk?

I run our tank at 45c, because it has replaced the tumble dryer.
