Re: How one German village exemplifies the cancer risk from wood burning
Lifelong Asthmatic since I was 3, have lived in city centres, months spent in Shanghai where the outside air burnt the back of the throat, stood at bus stops not being able to see the number on the bus until it stopped, worked in factories including foundries. Despite all of that the worst attack I ...

Below £135 the seller is supposed to collect the VAT and send it to UK, above £135 VAT is not collected by seller but is instead collected at entry into UK based on declared value. So if you buy goods over £135 but the declared value is accidentally declared at below £135 then no VAT is taken at ent...

Re: Kerosene (Heating Oil) in a tractor?
It's the fuel pump that determines if you can use kerosene, the older the pump the more likely it can be used. Modern fuel pumps require a level of oil content to lubricate them which diesel provides. You can get away with either mixing it in with diesel or adding cheap hydraulic oil. At current hea...

Re: Secondhand Taycan EV
I have practised bangernomics for a few decades, you do not buy your car because it has depreciated more than another making it cheap to buy. You buy it based on reliability ratings, running costs and what you plan to use it for. That will mean its usually depreciated by less than most others in its...

Found out that the Solax X1 Boost G3, which is a cheap and freely available new G98 inverter, can be made to control its output via the connected Grid frequency. https://community.victronenergy.com/questions/63602/mp-2-ac-coupled-with-solax-inverter.html The two parameters that need adjusting are Fr...

Re: Automating overnight charge rate and limit with Sunny Island
Luckily you will end up only interested in 5 or 6 registers but with SMA providing so many registers and the descriptions not always matching the matching parameter description in the Sunny Portal its a steep learning curve. Note any register marked ! in a yellow triangle is best left alone Warning ...

Re: Automating overnight charge rate and limit with Sunny Island
With a 13 as well as changing parameters using Sunny Portal then you also have the option of Modbus TCP. Depending on the firmware version there are two modbus register lists https://www.sma.de/en/service/downloads?tx_lwsmasolrsearch_pi1%5BfilterQueries%5D%5BdocFamily%5D=%22002Battery%20Inverters%22...
