Re: Storm impact

Village (sorta) one mile from me had a mini tornado do its worse and wreck quite a few houses. Literally yards past the epicentre, not a single thing damaged. Locals deserve a good pat on the back, Trades and others turned up immediately to help, really nice to see such community spirit in action. h...

...plus a tap for the garden (Loo feed was my thought too!)
Both fit nicely with your reuse-reduce ethos JB :xl:

Re: New Homes (Solar Generation) Bill Shot down.

Think it was, in essence, that several schemes are in place already to encourage uptake. Even though they are not in reality. Huge oppo missed imv to make a required substantial step change, rather than forever be playing catch up. "The government has several schemes to support the installation...

New Homes (Solar Generation) Bill Shot down.

Seems the sensible attempt by a politician to get a bill through parliament forcing new builds to have PV compulsory fitted has been binned, despite the clear benifits and Net Zero policies. Talk about yet another missed opportunity to do the right and proper thing. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articl...

Re: Battery plant - Fire supression?

Up here in Scotland the fire brigade offer free home fire safety visits and will draw you up a fire escape plan and discuss safety concerns you may encounter and want to put right. This is mist beneficial for disabled people who may struggle to evacuate, the service will then know where to look fir...

Re: Cybertruck seized in Manchester

I used to drive a Citroen AX diesel (running on veg oil lol) back in the day. 70+ mpg

Thicker metal and more sturdy structure in a coke can.

Literally took your life in your hands driving that - death trap even compared to the other diddy cars of the day.

Re: Battery plant - Fire supression?

This extract is notable to me "Officials are not actively fighting the fire, the Monterey Sheriff spokesperson said, and are instead leaving the building and the batteries to burn on the advice of fire experts." Appreciate this is an associated building. . . . but surely allowing the safer...

Re: Battery-inverter cables upgrade

Reading this thread and the insights and thoughts with great interest, seems theres so many alternatives and things to understand and consider. I shall never look at a piece of cable and think its straight forward ever again. Beginning to be glad i got into plumbing, thats complicated enough at time...

Re: Battery plant - Fire supression?

Yeah i suppose there is always the elements of preplanning, built in prevention and designing out of foreseen risk, but that 'butter side always lands down' law of sod can always creep in if humans are involved. Then once the dust has settled the usual excuse of 'we will learn the lessons', which of...
