Re: Part ownership of a Ripple Wind Turbine, fancy it?
And for KH, I note latest news from Ripple,
Turbines 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 now up and spinning
13/05/2024
We've had confirmation today from site that turbines 6 and 7 are now spinning. This means that just turbines 1 and 8 left to go.

Re: Part ownership of a Ripple Wind Turbine, fancy it?
I’m ut’ north at my mum’s and helped her buy into the Whitelaw Brae wind project. She’s a very low leccy user so she managed to buy about 5 times her usage and yet stay comfortably under the 7000 kWh no evidence limit. So although I could not buy any personally, we have combinati...

Re: Nowty Towers Vs UK Grid Storage
Mostly sunny, warm but quite hazy here at Nowty Towers today. Looking likely to finish the day at 76kWh, only 2 kWh away from my all time PB. More importantly, PB's were achieved by mid afternoon on both SMA Sunny Boy No3 inverter and Victron No1 charge controller confirming my Solar panel upgrades ...

Re: Nowty Towers Vs UK Grid Storage
I was getting about 9kW on the SMA Sunny Boys (AC coupled) and about 1.5kW on the Victron's (DC coupled). It does depend on the time of day as I have some early panels which shade off in the afternoon and afternoon panels which are slow in the morning. But with the temps increasing this week the pea...

Re: Nowty Towers Vs UK Grid Storage
Now in operational service, still got to add my anti pigeon brush surround and paint the exposed rails. Also my metalwork was sent to the wrong address so I had to bodge the joining of the extension rails for now, thats another job to do but it should not be too bad. This was a hard job th...

Re: "Grid Stabilisation Park"
Big flywheels to provide synchronous compensation so the grid can operate with zero gas, thus allowing more renewables to operate before they are curtailed. From the website of the company installing them. https://www.statkraft.co.uk/newsroom/2023/helping-the-uk-power-grid-spin-back-its-system-inert...

Re: Nowty Towers Vs UK Grid Storage
I've put a single token new panel on for verifying the proof of concept of how we get them up there, reverse way to how I got the old ones down. Haul onto a wheele bin, then step them up on an edge rung by rung on a ladder until they can be cantilevered over the edge of the rear of the car port. The...
