There's something wrong here, I think, If your boiler is modulating down to 6kW or so that consumption figure would imply the burner is firing for more than ten hours a day!! Does that seem likely to you? Have you checked the gas rate while it is firing?? that could be revealing.

Re: Oversized boiler
I am fairly sure you can change the burner assembly on the Logic as most of the other components are standard. Also are you sure the boiler is modulating down to 6kW on the minimum setting, it shouldn't be cycling too much at that output unless you only have a couple of rads turned on. Ideal have a ...

Re: I hate sloppy reporting . . .
Just remembered that the first fridge I owned was gas powered. Had a small pilot light at the back, at the base of a sort of chimney, and used that to heat ammonia that drove the heat pump. I wonder how a modern take on that system might work? No moving parts, nothing at all to go wrong, in theory ...

Re: I hate sloppy reporting . . .
What energy did you self generate there OGB? you know that should have be self harvested or similar? We all do it, I am happy to cut the reporters some slack some of the time TBH Desp We generate around 6,000kWh/year on average, from a south facing 25 panel PV array. We now use a lot more of this t...

Re: I hate sloppy reporting . . .
As Gus said earlier, we all rely on some bastardisation of our language to convey our meanings which a wide range of people understand. Technically it may be incorrect, but as long as the meaning comes through accurately all is well. Most of us here have a reasonable grasp of the technicalities of e...

Re: I hate sloppy reporting . . .
The energy stored by the Sun, or indeed all stars came from the Big Bang, Stars are just another stepping stone in a long chain. More technically we create Entropy, there is a fixed amount of Mass/energy in the Universe which is not changing. So the reality is there are no sources of energy, it has ...

Re: Celtic Interconnector
It would be nice OGB, as a keen amateur astronomer with more than a passing interest in astrophotography, stray light pollution is the bane of my life. Mind you living on the edge of SW Lunnun I am in the worst possible place  The Campaign for Dark Skies has done a good job in promoting variou...

Re: Celtic Interconnector
All good thoughts on this murky scenario (ie no context in print) @Desp, if the time taken thus far is not tied up in planning issues Id hate to see speed of progress to this still on the drawing board stage when there is. Desp, are councils asking shops to dim displays out of hours & the likes...
