Sadly we're not even close to reducing co2 output it is in fact accelerating, and I read that the amazon rainforest has become a net emitter of co2 instead of a sink. If that is true we are in big trouble.

Re: Rimac takes over Bugatti
I've always thought a flashing light is more noticeable and grabs the attention better than a steady light, but I do agree it is better to have a steady light as well to judge the distance and closing velocity.

Re: Rimac takes over Bugatti
Absolutely, we have been trying to run the country on the cheap for more than 30 years in the mistaken belief that it saves money, it's not surprising we have pitiful services and infrastructure. This Govt doesn't care because their mates in the "chumocracy" have done very well, they alway...

Re: Southern Water, 90 million "paltry" fine for extreme profit by pollution.
It's all part of the neoliberalist game plan Gus, profit is THE sole aim, service and responsibility are nowhere near the agenda. That and the fact the regulators don't have any teeth, because the GOVT haven't given them teeth, and a GOVT that doesn't give a sh1t, leaves us all in the sh1t. The pres...

Spot on that person :D My nephew was an engineer at one of the big waste companies until last year building a pretty sophisticated plant for separating the various waste streams. But the company has been sold to an American investment house, they have immediately split the business into three, waste...

Re: Flying car!
Mmmmm  Can’t see the strings in the pic - seriously, should we be supporting a flying car ? Isn’t it an outdated response to a transport solution ? It'll never happen, apart from maybe a prototype or two, it's a bonkers idea fraught with logistical and legal problems quite apart from the ener...

Re: Flying car!
What a brilliant idea, shifts some of the traffic off the roads and probably cleans up some city centers too.

Re: Farmers swapping crops for solar
I People I know on the Island who have moved from farming to camping and now solar seem to be making more than enough to set aside a bit to pay for the clear up at the end of the term. The residual values would probably go quite a way to the clear up also. What's to stop them just carrying on as a ...

Re: Felling a giant ash; a man on top of the job.
It is a shame to see an old tree come to the end of its life but it comes to us all sooner or later. It scares the poop out of me to see those tree fellas waving a chainsaw around up the top of a tree. Sometimes I pick up logs from my mate where he is felling them and I just cannot watch him, he's n...
