Re: New standard bans solar batteries in lofts
I guess the real issue is what are the chances of a battery fire? As I understand it most home batteries have a pretty sophisticated BMS that should look after the battery health and so minimise the risk, maybe?? As the video made clear new regs will not be retrospective, but insurance companies may...

Re: Solis inverter alarm
I have the same set up, Solis with a bunch of Pylon-techs, and get the same warning codes when fully charged . Also a couple of days ago we had an alarm on the master battery itself when the SOC was at 18%, after sun-up and a bit of charge the red Led went out and hasn't come back since. Is this ele...

Re: Akvaterm Thermal Store (Bits n bobs Q's)
Water will expand by about 4% between 4degC and 100degC, so assuming you will have a standard T&PRV on it that will be the worst case scenario you EV will have to cope with. As you said earlier it is about 45L expansion, you dont want the pressure rise to be to much so you need an EV sized to a...

It must take enormous self control to sell that thing and keep a straight face Cheapo kitchen sinks dont corrode at the slightest brush with an insect! Musk must have purchased a dodgy batch from Arthur Daley

Re: New ground array
Why not wind in some screw piles to fix it down? they are cheap, very strong and easy to do, and I think would provide a much more secure foundation than just weighting it down with blocks. If when you need to de-commision it all you can just wind them back out again. IIRC a 90cm long screw can hold...

Re: Small things matter
Started a new small Womble project today. Using a plum tree section cut last I am attempting to make a Summer G&T side table for SWMBO. Got the legs (2nd hand) measured, dowelled and old fixing holes filled. Belt sanded (solar powered) the top to remove chainsaw marks. I'm using things I've see...

Re: killa wot ours!
I second that, it grinds my gears to hear people talking about kilowatts per hour, or how many kilowatts do you use a day :head-bang: Must admit though I am less fussed about only using SI units, some are impractically small for everyday use, I get kitchen plans in millimetres which seems nuts. Sinc...
