Re: Garden birds and insects

Agree with Ivan, it is an amazing free app. Even if you move continents and/or regions, the uploads are still free. Even though I’m a birder, bird song sometimes escapes me  What I’ve found interesting (I know) is that with well known bird song, when in different places it highlights that ...

Re: Garden birds and insects

We’re in South Somerset and see them every year - Lavender is a good spot for them.

As well as having a ‘colony’ of Scarlet Tiger, which are very colourful and day time flyers, we also get the other ‘tigers’ - Jersey and Garden, but in smaller numbers.

I’m sure you’re on this Joe, but before you accept he new units, check that they look exactly the same.

Being produced by different suppliers may give slightly different looking units.

Small differences can really grate over the years you’d have to live with them.

We have Mint Moth frequenting the mint too - always good to see what your plants, including ‘weeds’ support before removing them.

The most impressive moth we regularly get, and probably my favourite, is the Humming Bird Hawkmoth.

Re: Garden birds and insects

It’s interesting which plants you have that support particular butterflies or moths. We have a healthy crop of Alkanet, which is an invasive weed. We leave pockets of it as it supports our colony of Scarlet Tiger Moths. Similarly, we leave some Ragwort in the wild flower parts of the lawn. It is the...

Garden birds and insects

Given the incredibly dry Spring, and current warm weather, don’t forget to leave some accessible water for your local birds.

Also, insects, particularly pollinators, like a shallow, rough sided container, to have a drink too.

Unfortunately, as MiL can be rather negative in her outlook  , it would be more of

‘And do you know, a bloody satellite crashed in the field nearby.

Why they can’t organise a bbq properly, I don’t know

I heard it had landed in the Indian Ocean...? https://www.livescience.com/space/space-exploration/soviet-spacecraft-kosmos-482-crashes-back-to-earth-disappearing-into-indian-ocean-after-53-years-in-orbit Thankfully :) , as we we’re having an extended family BBQ and I was sort of convinced it would ...

Re: ASHP & triple glazing

That’s good :xl:

What’s the weight of each unit Joe ? Must be 120Kg at least.

Don’t envy the fitters - I fitted (with help) a 60Kg reinforced glass for a Juliette balcony at home - that was fun and at least it was a regular shape.

Sure it’ll go well.
