Re: Device for attaching PV panels to metal roofing
One thing that stands out to me Tinbum is the simplicity of the S5 bracket in that there are no horizontal support extrusions. Grade 6000 aluminium alloy rails of say 6m length on conventional framework will increase in length by 0.000023 x 6000 x 50 = 6.9mm in going from 0C to 50C. On S5 brackets ...

Re: Killing off home solar in Canada & returning your customers to the "fold"
It all comes back to the unit charge v standing charge debate. We all want to have the convenience and availability of the grid and want to pay as little as possible for it. Meaning that someone else has to pay more.

Re: Part ownership of a Wind Turbine, fancy it?
This is a problem for Ripple, in effect they are turning away business. There are many people who want to write a big cheque, my father wanted to put £20k in it and he only uses about 2000 kWh a year. I said to him, officially you can only put about £1.5k in and he replied, what's the point of that...

Re: Part ownership of a Wind Turbine, fancy it?
I should be able to invest upto around 900 kW of capacity. I reckon that by the time WT3 is brought to market, I may be able to sell some of WT1 and diversify my portfolio of wind farms. That amount must be greater than the rest of us on the forum put together? :o Apologies. Should be 900 W. I have...

Re: Part ownership of a Wind Turbine, fancy it?
I have just tried to update my annual electricity usage and had to ask Ripple how to do it. They have replied that "You will be able to update your estimated annual usage once our share offering goes live. This will be the first week of February, but when you go into the share offering portal i...

But, most importantly, what is the coffee like?
I my view, you cannot beat an Aeropress for ease of use and quality of the brew.

All happening now, mail just in. EV charger being fitted tomorrow afternoon Joe, I would be very interested to hear what test certificates and paperwork etc you get given by the installer (who is probably a subcontractor of the company that Octopus have out sourced the installation to). When mine w...

Re: Co Charger App - Anyone signed up!
I had a quick look at it and it seems very basic. For example. it does not measure the electricity used but estimates by the EV owner giving the start and end % of charge and the battery size, ignoring inefficiencies in charging. Around where I live, the council have installed lots of lamppost charg...
