Re: Driving test application.

I wish you daughter well. Similar happened with mu son-in-law. Due to take his theory test in March 2020 but cancelled the day before due to COVID, even before lockdown started. Now is taking practical test in December in Chester where his parents live. Trying to look for an instructor for some refr...

Re: Driving test application.

The DVSA (driving and vehicle standards agency) issue numbers to all approved driving instructors. You daughter’s instructor should have an ADI badge. It is illegal to charge for driving lessons without qualification. I think that the DVLA cross check to see if the instructor has timetabled his/her ...

If he were to set up a collection system for lawn clippings during the summer season, I would be happy to sell him mine.

Re: Part ownership of a Wind Turbine, fancy it?

If you buy less than 7000 kWh's worth, there is no evidence required on your actual usage. The limit was a Financial Services Authority (FSA) requirement to avoid tax evasion. Thanks for that, maybe I will buy in to No 2 on the basis of my planned heat pump (one day!)... p.s: done - make it 7! A No...

All the best.

Now 6 members of a wind turbine we officially know nothing about.
I too have paid the option to be an investor in WT2. Does that make it 8?

Re: Moderator Alert

As I used to live in London and commute on the Piccadilly line, it was well known and frequently repeated story in the press about the worlds most expensive public transport cost per mile. Its the 43 second jaunt on the Piccadilly Line between Covent Garden and Leicester Square for a distance of 0....

Re: Energy market

I have just got an email from Octopus stating that my estimated gas bill will go up from~£700 to ~£900 per annum and another £200 if I moved to a fixed tariff.

Nothing on my Go tariff changing.

Re: Smart meter

They do indeed. Also they understand the daily charge. It puzzled me at first why the £pp usage was so high when I first glanced at the IHD at breakfast time. However, the gas usage is in kWh whereas the billing is in cubic metres multiplied by a calorific factor (~39) and other factors. So it is ha...

Re: NG will heat homes with transformer waste heat.

There are several other large sources of low grade heat which are sizeable enough to potentially power district heat systems. One such source is mine water generation from disused coal mines. When the mines were abandoned dewatering ceased and the ground water level in the mines rose, often eventual...

I climbed Ben Nevis for the first time at the beginning of August. We were actually presently surprised how litter free it was on the way up and around the summit. Coming down we met several groups going up with litter pickers. They were mainly volunteers with the John Muir Trust who own part of the...
