Re: Building an EV more efficient than walking

Hi Gents, Come to think of it yearsh..I've welded a few spanners to the chassis of vehicles with the battery terminal on thuther end. I forgot to take a pic of it making coffee onnan induction hob. I was building "solar" gensets since before they were a thing. The preceeding hardware confi...

Re: Building an EV more efficient than walking

While I was at it I decided to reinvent the self-propelled welder-genset with EV battery support, in an 80kg zero emission package, pushing 3.5kVA 230V & 180A of stick welder, combined 4kWh, indoor safe and 30dB. Micro-grid forming and integrating with AC and DC coupled solar compatibility. One ...

Re: Building an EV more efficient than walking

Let's talk loadouts...I've already hauled the aluminium braces for a 15 panel ground array 30kms across the hillside. Kiddy carrier. https://i.imgur.com/NPqAtZv.jpeg Need mains on the go? https://i.imgur.com/RHTY2WS.jpeg 400VA "48" volter is a not terrible match for a 14S NMC Li-Ion. Input...

That was 41W peak probably 20W RMS and a cherry picked result for the camera at that. https://external-content.duckduckgo.com/iu/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fcdn.quotesgram.com%2Fsmall%2F70%2F38%2F383630012-thumb.gif&f=1&nofb=1&ipt=9ed253df7bd0f673f429448d5c36f2a57ce40b1030f2d02ceed3a223c32332ab&...

Re: How to rig up an off grid AC system

Hi Marcus. That one is a 24Volter(3.5kVA @ ~93% eff.) but the 48volter (4kVA @ ~95% eff.) is the same PCB and layout I run both and they AC couple together, albeit at 26volt and 60volt because LFP and I can, possibly just a different traffo and firmware flash between versions. There's nowt underneat...

Re: Portable wind turbine

My favourite part is "You can see the input on the little screen" @ 12mins30 (I'm actually impressed it's as high as it is  ) https://i.imgur.com/l36LYWj.jpeg Fluctuating around 40w. I'm guessing it's a ~60 000Wh battery in the car... Hrmmm how could you offset that on an electric veh...

Re: Portable wind turbine

Size matters with wind. Elevation, ruggedness, swept area. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-AHV71ti14k My experimental rule of thumb is if you can't build at least a 3m blade diameter at double the height of the nearby wind barriers don't bother. :teapot: PS Robert "charged" the car with t...

Re: How to rig up an off grid AC system

The MOSFET metal heat sink tab is the drain which is soldered to a PCB trace you'll need a 500°C tip temperature on the solder iron to budge. Hence electrically and conductively coupled to copper conductor with a massive aluminium plate on the bus and two huge copper cables on the plate. I swap the ...
