Re: Octopus Flux tariff from April

 I know that Victron and SMA kit has this functionality built in. Additionally you can implement it with HomeAssistant or Node Red on many inverters. This is a sought-after feature for those who don’t get paid for exporting. The SMA Sunny Island does not have this for overnight charging, alth...

Re: ASHP & triple glazing

First time I've enjoyed seeing condensation on a window. :D (It is on the outer pane). Swmbo has returned from Edinburgh, had a couple of meltdowns at the windows not being finished, said she hates the glazing bars then announced its too hot we'll have to adjust the ashp. This is par for the ...

Re: Octopus Flux tariff from April

Hello, The announcement from Octopus that their night-time charge rate will be significantly less than the day-time export rate was a surprise and has prompted me to search for answers to the following question. Can anyone tell me if the Tesla gateway assesses the next day sunshine forecast to deci...

Re: Starting out on my heat pump journey

Good luck getting it sorted yuff. I think we had an estimated 26kW+ heat loss when I ran it through one of those calculators you can find online: https://www.cityplumbing.co.uk/heat-loss-calculator 100+ years old. Solid brick. 3 storey semi detached. Approx.. 350m² Solid brick? Have youthought abou...

Re: Starting out on my heat pump journey

My house, which is mostly 1970s and around 170 square meters, has a heat loss of just under 7 kW, so I would think a 100 year old 370m2 house would likely need more than 8.5kW. Maybe, maybe not! He says the insulation has been thoroughly upgraded. If the insulation has been upgraded to a high stand...

Re: Starting out on my heat pump journey

I really would advise fixing the problems rather than ripping out and starting over. Sure your guy might be highly skilled, but his interests lie in selling you a new HP. I really think that simplifying and/or upsizing a few pipe runs, removing any low-loss-header, zone valve or supplementary pump, ...

Re: Spring has sprung?

Cracking generation down here in Cornwall today too. My 'repowered' FIT system generated a whopping 30kwh today, in March. The older replaced panels have never generated more than 25kwh, in the height of the summer. New panels something like 21% efficent vs i think it was 13% for the original 190w ...

Re: Starting out on my heat pump journey

Think plumber made a dogs dinner of my ashp’s installation in 2022. Have been trying to get it to work efficiently ever since. Original installer messed up the grant application so missed out but plumber who came to look at the installation is confident he can rectify everything and OFGEM have said...

Re: Nowty Towers DIY Battery Project

don't want to jump on your thread but silly to start a new one... how's the temperature where you keep your batteries ? building a workshop for mine, I'm a bit worried they cold in winter will do them no good.... before I install them it wouldn't be too big of a deal to box them in a bit to control...
