I'm still alive!
Lots going on in my personal life at the moment which means I don't have as much time as I used to. Hopefully I'll have things more under control in the next month or two.

Re: Large Solar Panels - Availability
I'm never going to claim I'm au fait with the rules around inverters, capacity, and everything else going on, so apologies if this comes across as naive. I've used the Victron MPPT calculator and when I plug in the numbers for the 555W JA panel nowty suggested it shows that most SmartSolar chargers...

Re: Large Solar Panels - Availability
Additionally these jumbo panels tend to have higher current ratings than most consumer inverters can make use of. This isn’t harmful (the reverse polarity protection might not function) you just won’t get the full power the panel is capable of. Are you sure about that? Inverters tend to have a maxi...

Re: Large Solar Panels - Availability
I'm doing a bit of work planning to complete my solar pergola, and I've come to the conclusion that I need to use solar panels roughly 2.2m by 1.1m in size to maximise the area covered. I will be using them in portrait orientation and they need to be half cut cells because of the shade thrown by th...

Re: Mobile phone deals......
Help! I have two teenage sons, and being a great dad, I pay for their mobile phones. Which they are glued to almost 24/7 of course... Their current contracts with Vodafone expire next month and I would like to explore the dark arts of reducing the cost of their SIM deals. But crucially what ever ne...

I’m really sad that we as a society are no longer buying anything other than dumb crossovers.

Glad they've seen sense.
The H2 plan was never going to work.

Re: Idiot's guide to a self build battery
If one of your inverters connects to your consumer unit, and the other one connects via a Henley block then you’ve got separated power and you can have both inverters following demand, each with a CT. So in the pic below, “hybrid inv” connects to the consumer unit, and gets a CT that just sees the ...

Is summer here?

Re: Idiot's guide to a self build battery
Fintray, just interested in how you are going to integrate the batteries with your Powerwall 2 ? Or is this going to replace it, or even a second battery system ? Nowty, I'm not sure how the 2 systems will react with each other but the batteries from Colin will be going through a Victron system. OK...
