Re: Van of enormous power Mk 4

Given the 15p for exporting I’d go AC. IIRC you’re already filling your batteries fast and throttling generation on sunny days.

dan_b wrote: Thu Mar 20, 2025 10:05 am How easy would it be to drop this into our 3-phase SolarEdge system here in my workplace?

Also got a friend who might be interested. How quickly are you looking to offload it all?
The batteries care not about single vs 3 phase. That’s a problem for the inverter.

Re: Van of enormous power Mk 4

I think timber with OSB roof and torch on felt would be the a good option. Then lets you use normal hardware onto joists which you have already sized to take the extra weight. It’s what I did on my garage! My garden office is dimber frame with 19mm OSB3 covered in cheapo felt. Been there nearly 10 ...

Re: Van of enormous power Mk 4

Absolutely - nothing else makes sense or would be cheaper, looking forward to seeing the photos in due course. about 8kWp approx 4m wide and 8 meters long at a guess ? Moxi Mmmn, Permitted development. It would only generate in the first half of the day. Could be interesting though. The a...

Re: Spring has sprung?

We generated 40kWh today and have exported 33kWh of that so far with 38% soc left in stack and a a couple of hundred W's still incoming. If we don't quite manage dual 40's today i'm ok with that but it will be close. :D :xl: It is very nice indeed to be back into Spring generation. I have generated...

Re: tidal lagoons rather than barrages ?

I think all these schemes are a waste of time and money. Nothing ever comes of them and money that could be spent on proven wind/solar is diverted... but you must admit that lagoons a) are renewables, b) work when wind and solar can't and c) (if you had a cluster of lagoons) could help with storage...

Good times!

15p/kWh killed any self-consumption attempts at our house! Nowadays we try to maximise export.
