Re: how much energy is wasted driving a petrol car
I think it mentions that software faults were a major contributer. Not meaning to bash EVs, but more questioning this assumption that they have fewer moving parts so must be more reliable. They still have transmissions in most designs. They still have suspension, brakes (albeit used less), tyres, et...

Re: how much energy is wasted driving a petrol car
EVs require very little maintenance. Basically just the pollen filter. EVs require much fewer repairs than an ICEV too, due to fewer moving parts. Most of the repairs can be undertaken by any mechanic (eg suspension), but companies (ec Cleevely) will repair the battery system on your driveway. So i...

It is more of a brochure than a report, IMHO.

I was talking to a besom maker once, who chatted to me, barely breaking eye contact, while he went through the entire process of making a broom Looked really easy. I bet it isn't ! St...

Re: Half of homes need heat pump by 2040
I'm not convinced the gas boiler flue noise vs heat pump argument would be fair, as the heat pumps tend to be operated more continuously than gas boilers, even if the dB were comparable. If new builds - which can be designed to suit - aren't required to use heat pumps and solar, there is little hope...

Re: 2025 planting ..........
My garlic and broad beans are in the ground. I've never understood the fuss of planting such things in modules, garlic particularly, they are as tough as old boots. The broad beans do suffer a bit if too wet perhaps, so I put them in a better drained area. Onions went in at New Year, those are in se...

Hello everyone !
Hello - another Green Living Forum refugee here. I've been around on there almost from the start in the days it was INEBG.
