Re: Good price panels

8.6p/watt incl VAT for the Longi. That’s way below what I’ve ever seen on offer.

Janus is back again;the heavy truck conversion with 4 minute battery swap.

Their conversions have now covered enormous mileages. The drivers love them. Refuelling is quicker than with diesel.

All those huge warehouse roofs may yet be covered in PV

It seems that the time has come and Solivus is leading the way with lightweight Bonded PV. Tesco uses 1% of UK electricity and it is being trialled by them.

Re: Length of cable behind pv panel

I asked the question of Grant Atkins at Bimble Solar. This is his reply. It totally depends on the panel, generally yes as you align nose-tail-til-nose-nose etc in landscape, but some do have short middle leads, specifically for portrait. Datasheets on every listing show the panel and leads and leng...

Re: Length of cable behind pv panel

That’s a lot of extensions with a lot more potential failure points. The leads used to be long enough to reach all 4 sides of the panel.

Length of cable behind pv panel

I’ve only just noticed this. The commonly-sized pv panels are about 1722mm x 1134mm overall. The cables on the rear are only about 300mm in length. So you can only connect any two panels with the longer sides together. This is fine for a row in portrait mode but impossible for a row in landscape. Am...

Re: 2025 planting ..........

Approx 200 Stuttgarter onion sets have gone shoulder to shoulder in a tray of damp compost, in the greenhouse, to develop early roots. In a couple of weeks they will go in a raised bed outside and protected from Mr Blackbird by mesh frames. He looks for worms by lifting them. https://i.postimg.cc/y3...

Re: rare-earth-free solar cell breakthrough

Perovskite-based solar cells have been in development for quite a while and is certainly a route to even cheaper panels - I think there's also been research into combining perovskite with traditional solar cells to improve the output per m2 even further. I think the issue with perovskite has been i...

The Eric Tile for solar hooks

I think that this is a neat idea for plain tiles though it has been around best part of a decade. There is no need to slot or reshape and weaken the adjacent tiles. I just wonder if the plastic will last the course although it should be protected by the PV panel. https://youtu.be/TdHO42k0l74?feature...

He does address the convection issue forcefully at 5 minutes onwards.
