Re: Rise in standing charges "Unjust"
Great thanks, I don't know why they have to make it so hard.

Re: Rise in standing charges "Unjust"
How do you find out what the price called standing charge and unit rate is for each region?
I've searched and all I ever find is the total value for an average house with no reference to geographic region which is pretty useless information.

Re: Should we put turbines everywhere?
I don't mind the sight of turbines in the hills but wish they could find a way of installing and maintaining them without requiring so much roads. Taking one of my locals (Dunmaglass, +/- 100MW) as fairly typical for a windfarm in the hills it has around 33km of roads. The amount of roads built into...

Re: SSE pay as you go costs
The price cap coming into force on 1st April is £1971 for a standard meter and £2017 for those with a prepayment meter so it appears that there isn't actually much difference now.

Is there no community benefit funding that solar developers pay?
Onshore wind developments are expected to give around £5000 /installed mw/ yr to the local community.

18.9 kWh today which is not far away from the same as a good summer's day - if I remember right (only got a proper monitoring system recently) a wall to wall sunshine day in june is about 24 kWh.
There are still patches of snow in the shaded areas so it feels really good for February.

Re: Solar Edge
That's all very useful, thanks for everyone's comments. The existing 4kw system has no shade at all and I'm quite happy with its performance so I will be getting generation in the morning from them regardless of what I do. The new system is my attempt to maximize panels on available roof space and i...

Solar Edge
Basically, is it worth paying an extra £1400 for a system with micro invertors? I'm about to build an extension and have permission to put an additional 4kw on its roof. The roof faces SSW but is lower than the house which is to the east. This means that the edge of my new array will get shading in ...

Re: Nordstream2 project offline
8 years ago we were repeatedly told that north sea oil and gas would run out in 5 years. It didn't and it won't run out in 8 more years although it will probably decline. There is plenty still untouched West of Shetland (albeit in a somewhat high cost environment). Longer term there are other ways t...

Re: Electric Kettle
That makes sense thanks, I share the doubt about plastic kettles.
