Re: Solar record?

Anyone know the solar record now, as I see today (on Iamkate) hit 13.36GW. Pretty impressive.

Edit - And I should add, I only noticed as I like to take a look at the 24hr chart each day to see the 'fun' way the PV and gas curves interact (inversely).

Re: Octopus -Missing Export data for 13th May!

Hi AD. I know what the problem is ....... my export has just gone live, so I've cursed the whole system.

The same thing happens to PV gen, whenever I say the weather forecast looks good.

Re: 400MW solar farm approved

Yes, it's right next to us and I’m not happy at all. Solar should be on roofs not farm land. Kinda irrelevant given the negligible impact of PV to UK farmland. That old fun example of 2% of England being used for PV would (theoretically) equal the UK's entire leccy consumption is always important, ...

UK PV closing in on 40% of demand

I assume this has happened before, but I've just not noticed it. But talk about the little engine that could, with regard to PV ..... in the UK. :praise:

Re: 400MW solar farm approved

Nice to see the long operational life of 40yrs being granted. I think that better reflects (see what I did there!) the longer life expectancy of PV these days, and the value of repowering as panel efficiency increases in the future.

Re: Cost to build new gas plants...

PV panels made by robots v gas power plants by humans - no contest. And then installed by robots, perhaps? There are several being tested, here's an example: Leapting rolls out PV module-mounting robot To misquote George Taylor (Charlton Heston) - "Take your stinking mechanical manipulators of...

Re: Cost to build new gas plants...

Also unclear what would happen to the price of the price of large scale solar plus battery systems if increased competition for components jumped because everyone trying to build those instead. These are not fixed things, but in dynamic equilibrium. Both PV and battery system install rates worldwid...

Re: Changes to CfD Auctions

Thanks Dan, very interesting ...... well pretty boring I suppose. I'm certainly reading it like you. So instead of approving schemes until their capacity at the strike price reaches the auction pot limit, they will stretch(?) the budget till capacity hits a set target. That sounds like a good idea, ...

Re: Solar mandatory for newbuild from 2027

I notice the article suggests that this policy will add £3-4,000 per property, but I see adverts for a complete systen installed for not much more than this. As I see it, there would be no additional cost for scaffolding, and if in-roof systems were used the saving on tiling is likely to be signifi...

Re: Tesla mileage discrepancies.

The 'range' quoted for all electric vehicles tend to be rather fantasy-driven. In the old days, you have mpg at 30mph / 56mph / 70mph, and if you drove your car mainly at these speeds you'd see generally something similar to what was advertised, given correct tyre pressures and without excessive lo...
