Re: The Boy That Cried PV Extension

Teeny disappointment - We now consume about 8,000kWh's pa. With oven and DHW on leccy, I estimate reaching about 9k. I read that as 8000kWh per month. I thought "that's a lot I only use about 2000 a month". Then I read it again. :cat-shock: That'll be the Bitcoin mine down the shed. :whis...

Re: The Boy That Cried PV Extension

Mch update for the system, and it's all good news. Bill for Mch looks to be about £45*. That includes about £15 in standing charges, and about 120kWh of night rate used to charge the BEV's, when PV couldn't cope. Fingers crossed April will just be SC's, plus perhaps £6 for gas, and a few quid for le...

Re: Integrated solar/battery/DC rapid charging site

Is it an Open Access Supercharger site? Mind you I still think most non-Tesla EV owners have no idea that many Supercharger sites can now be used by non-Teslas and are often significantly cheaper than other rapid charger operators. There is a 12 stall Tesla Supercharger within about 4 miles of it s...

Sorry to be a pain, but just asking again about this, as I hadn't heard. Are they now VAT free?

Re: ASAP / aircon?

The challenge is that heat output from an A2A is functionally impossible to measure. I put a power monitor on my A2A and in January this year it consumed 402.35kWh. Which seems minuscule for a 5-bed house! Similar with me. Not measured specifically, but from energy consumption, I can guestimate tha...

Re: ASAP / aircon?

Yep, almost at the end of our first winter using the 2 A2A units. Haven't used the GCH at all. Last year (2023/24) we used them overnight on cheap rate to reduce GCH use by pre-heating the house. But with batteries added in 2024, they covered all day heating this winter too. Previous years, going ba...

Re: Could you run an electric combi boiler off a big battery for hot water?

I note the OP ran an almost identical thread less than a month ago, https://camelot-forum.co.uk/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=2889 That thread was from a year ago :D I thought of just bumping up, but actually I realised I'd like to restrict the question a bit to just the hot water practicality. T...

Re: The hidden reason behind high public charge costs

Nah, yeah nah! I charge at home for hours, often on a granny charger. Seems fine to me, and I've never left my car at a petrol station for 14hrs. Feels like a win win to me, no defeat. A small top up, at a supermarket, gym, cinema etc, sounds fine to me. And long/slow charging at on-street chargers ...

Re: how much energy is wasted driving a petrol car

Also had the Tesla 3.5 years now and its never seen the inside of a garage, only maintenance I've done is a single tyre rotation. Its due a second one soon. Just over 3yrs for ickle TiMmY, and our only non leccy expenditure was £45 for the MOT. No issues, other than a couple of punctures. No proble...
