Re: Cam Pets, or Petcam?

At the lake a pair of silly Coots decided to build a nest in the open, next to a walkway, on some weeds. Then as it rained and the water level rose, or the wind caused rivulets, they worked tirelessly to repair the nest as fast as it was falling apart. Well, their hard work (and stupidity) has been ...

Re: Cam Pets, or Petcam?

Will he make it to his (and our?) 10th anniversary on the 6th May ....... I've no idea, but he's still happy, eating and purring, but ever more wobbly. Hope nobody minds this trip down memory lane. My how time flies. Yes, of course he will :xx: You called it, he was still with us this morning. And ...

Re: Finnish project to store 90GWh for district heating

Mind blowing, to store a years worth of heating energy for the town is one hell of an investment. I'm not sure how much total storage the UK will need for a 100% RE/low carbon grid, but perhaps 2 weeks worth(?) So whilst seasonal storage probably isn't needed, if PV panel costs keep falling, then be...

Hey Joeboy, slight digression (moi, shirley not!) but just scrolled down his page and saw the piece of wood. Before reading the comment above, I immediately saw a really tired Ostrich. Not sure I want to know what brain type I am.

Re: Cam Pets, or Petcam?

New friend today. My neighbour who helps at the cat rescue, had to rush to W. Wales for a small family emergency. So asked me to check in on Petal and give her meds at the necessary times. Petal was at the rescue, but is a bit nuts, and plays rough. She hurt her eye, then got an abscess, and needed ...

Re: Fully electric container ship

If I'm remembering correctly from when the news broke of the plans for this ship (and more), it follows the coast and hops from port to port, so each leg is quite short, and the containerised batts can be swapped out for charged ones (if necessary). Hence why it doesn't need as much energy as you mi...

Re: Musk fires entire Supercharger Team?

Seems even the student interns are being axed! https://www.teslarati.com/tesla-makes-newest-cut-interns/ I found myself looking at model X's last night. A serious load lugger with all seats folded. Hiya, just in case it's of interest - I seem to recall a test that showed the Model S was as good. Mi...

Re: Accelerated grid connections for renewables

Brill news, but raises a question for me, if anyone knows the answer. The article mentions, as Dan points out, that the DNO (distribution network) approves, prior to the transmission network (National Grid*). So, just wondering, but does power go 'up' from the distribution network, to the transmissi...

Re: Mouse problem in poly tunnel

May have been a fluke, but we caught a mouse last week. We no longer have any 'tough' cats that grew up 'on da streets', or are fully mobile, so our homegrown cats like to bring mice in, and let them loose in the house. Anyways, the mouse took shelter behind the kitchen cabinets. Then fou...

Re: High density hydro

Thanks, great to learn new stuff each day.

Back to costs, is it fair to assume that the fluid mix will be cheap, so the 2.5x mass makes sense?

Not a trick question, not asking for a yes/no on viability, just interested to know if the basic idea has wings?
