Re: Hoymiles problem, or grid voltage too high?
Another anecdote about high voltage -no help to richbee (sorry) but maybe informative to others: A work colleague has had trouble with his car charger due to high mains voltage (he measured it at 252V), the charger just displayed an error without any further information and the manufacturer suggeste...

Only at high frequencies, you won't get much skin effect at 50Hz.AE-NMidlands wrote: ↑Mon Mar 25, 2024 2:38 pm Am I correct in remembering from school that current flows on the outside of conductors? (Although if that was true, how come the choice of metal involved is so important?)

Re: Big battery for leccy and hot water. A2A for space heating.
No single phase. Assuming I'll be able to use a tarrif such as Octopus EV (I do have an EV), and could charge at 7kW for 6 hours = 42kWh, which should be enough unless battery completely depleted, in which (hopefully rare) case would need to do some additional charging at peak rate. Bear in mind th...

60.10 p a day would be a welcome drop for me (and Moxi, I presume.) I'm already paying more than that, so I guess mine will be 60.17 plus the extra 7p! It stinks. The figures per region. :? https://www.ofgem.gov.uk/information-consumers/energy-advice-households/get-energy-price-cap-standing-charges...

Re: killa wot ours!
I could never understand why kilo uses lower case k where as every other common* prefix with a power greater than 1 uses a capital and every one lower than 0 uses lower case. Anyone know why? I believe it's to differentiate it from the SI unit for temperature: Kelvin, abbreviated to K One thousand ...
