Re: 42GW hydro scheme in DR Congo
And also, it forces these countries down the route of very large centralised generation, and transmission, infrastructure - which may not be the best thing for such a large continent as Africa with many countries at differing levels of development.

Re: New Nuclear
Indeed so, and the non-restarting of Dungeness. I know we go around in circles on the whole nuclear argument, but it does seem to me like the UK going to have some very tight supply issues in the next few years if significantly more new generation and storage capacity isn't built? Even with all the ...

The APPG seems to think so https:/...

Re: The guardian wants you to write about electric & hybrid cars for it..
A new Costa has been built near me. Not a High St one, a drive-through with car park and sit-in cafe. Very difficult to approach on foot. However it has no EV Charing points. None. Why not fit a dozen 100kW chargers? They’d get customers for their £3 cups of warm milk and £1.50 chocolate muffins as...

New Nuclear
Two interesting developments in the world of nuclear power generation. One from China is that they have almost finished construction of a prototype thorium molten salt reactor designed for commercial electricity generation. Ok it's "only" 2MW but it's a whole different avenue of nuclear sc...
