Re: Rimac takes over Bugatti

I'm with you on the flashing lights thing - they're useless for the cyclist to help seeing where you're going, and they're massively confusing for all other road users to judge distance, speed, direction and even numbers of cyclists. I am guilty of having obnoxiously bright lights though - got 2x 15...

Re: Lightyear One solar EV range testing

Just how many, who intend actually keeping their EV for more than the lease period, would regularly charge their battery to 100% and run it to (nearly) 0%? Does the ‘mantra’ of 20% to 80% still not hold for maximising battery life? As I see it, regular steady charging, between those values, is the ...

Re: Lightyear One solar EV range testing

It's interesting though - this car has a 50kWh battery pack. That's significantly smaller than those found in all Teslas and other longer-range BEVs, many of which are 80-100kWh. And yet it's getting more range than any of them. Most cars with 50kWh battery packs get about 200 miles of real world ra...

Ok it's on a track, but the main thing is that they're still afloat.

Re: EV battery packs compared

Yep, although it looks like Hyundai are pretty close behind - and will be interesting to see what the efficiency stats are for their new 800v battery architecture in their new models.

Re: Gridserve to build 50 Electric Forecourt Hubs

24p/kWh is incredibly reasonable for ultra rapid charging if you think about it.

There is another expanding national charging network that is charging 70p/kWh yes, and that's Ionity.

Although if you drive an Audi or a Porsche you can get Ionity charging for less than that.

Re: Gridserve to build 50 Electric Forecourt Hubs

I believe they're charging 24p/kWh. Can't confirm though as when I went there for the Fully Charged Press Launch I got a free vend.

Gridserve to build 50 Electric Forecourt Hubs

Lots to digest here from yesterday's announcements by Gridserve, but it does all seem to be good news. Not only the pace with which they're replacing all the old Ecotricity chargers on the existing "electric highway" network, but also their ambitions for many more brand new Electric Foreco...

EV battery packs compared

Sorry for linking to Teslarati, but I couldn't find another article with the same info in it - ie relating to the most recent Munro Live teardown of the Ford Mach-E battery pack where they presented a comparison table of EV battery pack weights, capacities, and the stated range of each vehicle. It g...
