Re: Ioniq 5 rapidgates
No idea I'm afraid. Probably enough for 2 hours of driving though before requiring a re-charge, which would probably coincide with the driver's need for a coffee and a wee. So I would guestimate 150-180 miles? Certainly was the case with my TM3 last summer in France - albeit driving at 90mph on the ...

Re: Ioniq 5 rapidgates
Not really - no one drives from 100% to 0% before recharging back to 100%. That's the slowest way to progress. Sure you will start with 100% but after that, with all EVs, the recharging rates drop dramatically the higher the SoC. Apart from the Fat e-Tron as that has a colossal top buffer and lies a...

Re: Ioniq 5 rapidgates
On Bjorn's 1000km challenges he tries to minimise the overall journey time by doing more frequent, but shorter, charging sessions, such that when the car is charging its always in the fastest part of its charging curve. That's obviously a bit of an issue if the car is meant to deliver 200kW but keep...

Re: Ioniq 5 rapidgates
All BEVs have a charging curve which is temperature, chemistry and SoC dependent. But the point of it is that it seems like the Ioinq 5 doesn't have good enough thermal management as it is severely limiting its charging potential when outside of a rather narrow battery temperature range. Here is a c...

Re: Ioniq 5 rapidgates
Just because you might not "need" faster than 100kW charging, someone else might? I know I certainly made good use of the >150kW charging offered by Tesla Superchargers on my journey to the French Alps last summer - it gets you back on the road quickly, allows you to make longer stints bet...

Re: Oh dear, what have I done
Hope you're enjoying your TM3.
I've just rolled past 20,000 miles in mine, at an average of 273 Wh/mile. So almost, but not quite, 4 miles to the kWh. Wonderful machine.

Ioniq 5 rapidgates
I do find Bjorn's videos bizarrely intereresting. Here he's doing his 1000km challenge in the Ioniq 5 and not only does it coldgate, it also rapidgates. That 800v 200kW charging architecture still has some bugs to iron out I think? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bi_sChlWTRc Also watch out for the 2...

Rivian to prioritise Amazon vans
Apologies for sharing a link to Teslarati (it's not the most well written of sites!), but this made me think a few uncharitable thoughts about Rivian. They've got a pre-IPO valuation of some 80 Billion. I'm struggling to see how based on this. Great that they've got 100,000 pre-orders for their deli...
