The usual answer here is "they need to burn down their remaining coal stockpile before it closes completely later this year" but I agree it does seem odd - perhaps they needed the inertia in that part of the Grid?

Ok - did anyone actually see the Northern Lights in the UK this weekend? I knew they were likely to be visible even in London, but somehow managed to fall asleep before 11pm so completely missed it.

Watched it - still a bit dumbed down for my liking, but was interesting that it was all about HDVC interconnectors! Although they missed out a couple - I'm more up to date than National Grid it would seem!

Not got one, but have started to see quite a few BYDs on the roads in the last month or so. And this morning saw the BYD Seal in the metal for the first time - that's a really, really nice looking car. Very Tesla Model 3, but, somehow not. 82kWh battery, similar size vehicle, and a bit less expensiv...

National Grid has just launched a new YouTube series called "Behind The Grid".
Looks like it could be a really proper geeky deep dive into how it all works. First episode is 27mins long, I shall look forward to watching this later today!
