Lucid? Well they're now basically owned by the Saudi Government, and they have signed a deal to supply 100,000 cars to the Saudi Government, which included opening a final assembly plant in Saud, and the Saudis basically have unlimited money (until the oil runs out!), so I think Lucid is safe for th...

According to the Wall Street Journal - a loss of $227k per vehicle

Although in that same article it says Ford loses $62k per vehicle, so who knows!

Low takeup of FSD after free trial

Ok yes low sample size, but according to this, it seems there is a very low takeup of people buying full FSD in the US after having the free trial.

Re: 102.5% US Tarriffs on BEV's

Very much related I'd say. I read yesterday that Ford is making an average loss of $100,000 per EV it makes which if true is insane. I know their sales of the F150 Lighting aren't exactly setting the world on fire, but are they really that far off making them at least break even? No wonder they keep...

Flattening the duck curve with batteries

Found this on LinkedIn. Batteries are re-shaping the solar duck curve, soaking up solar during the day and discharging it when it's needed in the evening. The grid that originally coined the term "duck curve" is showing how to fix it. Just install more batteries! https://i.postimg.cc/yDFjM...

Re: No Coal but Oil ??

The usual answer here is "they need to burn down their remaining coal stockpile before it closes completely later this year" but I agree it does seem odd - perhaps they needed the inertia in that part of the Grid?

Northern Lights

Ok - did anyone actually see the Northern Lights in the UK this weekend? I knew they were likely to be visible even in London, but somehow managed to fall asleep before 11pm so completely missed it.

Re: "Behind the Grid" series

Watched it - still a bit dumbed down for my liking, but was interesting that it was all about HDVC interconnectors! Although they missed out a couple - I'm more up to date than National Grid it would seem!
