Re: Agile or Go?
I’ve been waiting more than a year for my smart meter. Before I thought it would take so long I did quite a bit of research here where my findings: - Go is better than Agile because: - You can set-and-forget all your timers. - You get a cheap period every day. - No mid-afternoon peak to contend with...

I agree on the “chocolate teapot “ front. Look at the size of the thing! Who is carrying that? What if it isn’t windy? I carry a 10,000mWh (10Wh?) USB battery pack when backpacking. It can keep my phone and DSLR powered for a week. You can’t go much further than that without resupply because you can...

Re: Sous vide Bags "PE" safety & recycling
I achieve a similar result by double wrapping steaks in foil and putting them in the oven on 50℃ for 6-8hrs. I prefer to do this in winter when the waste heat helps keep the house warm... The foil goes in my recycling with the cans and bottles. I'm not sure what happens to it after that. I do try to...

Re: Eco Angus Orligno Stoves
As you allude to: these days you are buying into a "system" rather than a "tool". The cost is mostly in the batteries, once they're paid for with the first tool you buy, the cost of a grinder/impact driver/hedge cutter, lawnmower, etc to expand your system is tiny in comparison. ...

Re: Eco Angus Orligno Stoves
Have a look at the modern battery chainsaws. The technology has moved on and they’re astonishingly powerful (particularly the ones that take 2x 18v batteries) and avoid the 2-stroke pollution nightmare.

Batch cooking!
Given the below I'm planning to cook a big batch of Mexican chicken on Saturday for the freezer. Does anyone else plan their cooking around the weather? Or is it just me?

Re: ID4 Motor Teardown
Great video. I think the guy fell into the trap many Americans do by thinking the American way of manufacturing something is automatically superior to other methods. He seems very welded to the principle that something is thrown away when it fails and therefore should be manufactured with glue and c...

Re: For those with house projects
There is a global squeeze on building materials. Lumber prices in the US have risen spectacularly, having held steady at $475-500 per thousand board ft for many years the price has risen to $1500. We should expect prices to rise across the board, but construction materials and other commodities have...
